I have successfully gone exactly one month today without a cigerette. Yay for me!
Totally awesome! :)
I've went.. longer than I can count. But I never got addicted anyway, so yay for me too :)
You're the best person ever.
I've gone my whole life. You got served beotch, beat that.
I've got approximately 12 hours without one (and I'm craving it)! Go me!
This reminds me, it's time for my smoke break.
wow good job, keep it up

Lots of Republicans smoke.
11? Wow - did your parents permit it? I've basically not heard of people starting at 11 without parental permission. Except for a former-friend of mine, but I think that was like 12 and his mom snorted coke so :\
Most people start young due to peer pressure :-\ I tried it when I was what like 9 but didnt liek it. My friend did and he still smokes :( Hes gon down hill. I drink badly though ???
I smoke, just not cigs.

When I was nine nobody I knew smoked. My friends didn't start getting into that until sixth/seventh grade.
I didn't know anybody who smoked until highschool (grade 10 or so). None of my friends have ever smoked.

No seriously though, don't even try smoking you'll hate it, and if you get addicted (probably not the first time) you'll hate yourself after that.
What I don't understand is why people start smoking cigarettes. After awhile they all want to quit and then hate themselves for starting.

From time to time you see a newspaper interviewing some 104 year old.
Newspaper: "What's your secret?"
Old dude: "I smoke cigarettes twice a day!"
And similar things. That gives people the feeling that smoking can't be that bad. After all, you make it to age 104, right?
Then people say, "hmm... This doctor is telling me that if you brush and floss your teeth after chewing tobacco, it reduces the risk of oral cancer by 70%!" and feel good about themselves and continue their destructive activities.

I smoke, when I drink,I dotn know why, it just goes together. I went out with work and got drunk and burnt my hand on a cigarete I let burn down to far. That made me stop that night. I think that smoking goes well with drinking. Most people I know who dont smoke do when they drink.

Cocaine is considerably better than cigarettes!
But seriously, pop is mostly sugar and caffeine, and I'd bet that drinking a glass of Coke is at least as bad as smoking a cigarette. Of course, if somebody drank a pack a day, I'd be worried.

I mostly quit everything.. Haven't smoked pot in 4 months... Ciggaretes are just fucking retarded.. I see nothing wrong with drinking, if it's not because of alcoholism.... Or at a party with chicks and you have a girlfriend.. :P
When I was 13 I tried cigarettes and got into partying a lot. Then I quit smoking them 1 1/2 years later (it's been 1 year now since I've smoked one). I also don't intend to do it again. However, I do still go out on weekends with friends and party pretty often (highschool, what can you do?). But I don't smoke pot or cigarettes (or anything for that matter); I just drink alcohol (but not daily, just on weekends at parties and I make sure not to kill myself...).

Trust's powerpoint on pot is quite informative & DOES offer some good points as WHY TO smoke pot. Cigarettes would be different seeing as how they are addiciting & cause more problems.

You lie! Pot is a magical plant from far away that only makes you happy! Doing drugs has absolutly no consequences at all!
You can eat pot and it won't cause the same problems as cigarettes. Also I've never heard of it reviving mental disorders do you have a source on that.
but it tastes nasty and you have to eat a lot more pot than you would have to smoke to get highi. Though, if you eat it the high is stronger or something like that.
I wouldn't eat a raw bud... it can be used to spice meat dishes, you can make tea with it, or you can put it in foods that mask the flavors like chocolate cakes or brownies. Some good indicas taste good just sauted or you can cook them in butter and save the butter for cooking.
It tastes like crap to eat raw and boil, not so much to cook. If you eat it, the high is not stronger, it's mellower and longer lasting.
http://www.opendoors.com.au/Marijuana/Marijuana.htm
Quotepsychological problems - Though marijuana is not necessarily a direct cause of mental disorders, there is considerable evidence to suggest that it can bring them to the surface.
I've read it all over the place, I've also read it helps with them, who knows really. Personally, I went through a period of psychosis, due to pot smoking, and it's kept me off it since.
But in small doses it could be better than larger doses, like alcoholic some beverages.
Anything is bad if abused.
QuoteIn the study, EPPIC followed the progress of 193 young people aged 15-29 years who presented to the service following a first-psychosis episode. The aim was to develop an appropriate intervention for cannabis treatment in people with psychosis as no tested therapy or pharmacological treatment exists to date.
http://www.adf.org.au/article.asp?ContentID=2001_4_4
This is the site they get their sources from and the only test they ran was on people who already show signs of psychosis. So how do they prove that the marijuana had anything to do with it?
And from the site you listed:
Quotephysical dependence - This happens when the body gets used to functioning with the drug present, and happens only with extremely high daily doses. Mild withdrawal symptoms, such as sleeping difficulties, nervousness and quick temper, follow a stoppage in use.
These aren't physical dependencies they go along with psychological. The only drugs that cause physical are opiates and amphetamines.
After stopping for a couple days several times in the summer I found it extremely hard to exert myself in the gym, but when going back on it I was fine. I had no reduced desire to work out while on or off. I also noticed this during the first few weeks of football, and how my body reacted in physically intensive situations. It's also harder to sleep after stopping, however this goes away after a couple days. I have no doubt whatsoever that there is a physical aspect to it.
Maybe we need a clean little guinea pig to start some tests on... Of course they couldn't've read any of this because then they may believe what this thread has influenced them to believe.
Uhm, it sounds like j0k3r is the guinea pig. He was on it, stopped, and is saying what happened to him, not what he heard from somewhere else or thinks is the truth.
Quite true. Maybe we should get more people from different cliques, so as to have ppl that weight lift, do jack, computer hack0rz, have a normal lifestyle, & so on. A wide variety of ppl & @ least 10 from each group that have no other health problems & have JUST started & smoke a controlled amout
I do jack shit most of the day. Waqtch my dvds whileplaying games and chatting online. Im not very active until the summer. I work in a stresful job. I smoke now and again but not regularley. :P

Nobody believes the research, everybody is far too confident in their own viewpoints to even listen to others. Also, the researches tend to be biased one way or the other, so it's not very helpful to begin with.
Only places the test could be run the proper way are in countrys where marijuana is legal, right? But either way if you are an adult smoking weed should be your choice. Alcohol is a far worse drug and it's legal here.

Perhaps we should make alcohol illegal? People are routinely murdered because of it, crimes are nearly always committed under the influence of it, it can be lethal by itself in large quantities....
They tried that already. The crime rose to a way higher scale just like with pot. If it was legal there would be a lot more money in the government to distribute to things like education.

Pot was legalized in the early 1900's.
But if was legal then all the kids would be stoned and the money put in education would be for nothing.
It'd be dumb to legalize it for adolescents.

Wow, highschool is full of really corrupt people, I heard some of the vball ppl even do crack.
The problem is....everything is getting worse.
It seems every year there's more younger kids that think their tough shit. Younger kids drinking, smoking, doing drugs, having sex, etc. And it seem like all these kids act like their older than they really are. It's almost like an identity disorder, where they try to act double their age, but they really act 1/2 their age. It shocked the hell out of me to hear a 6 yr old swearing at me. Shit like that just didn't happen 15 years ago.
Someone needs to teach these kiddo's to cool it off.
Just for reference...I'm 21, been smoking pot and drinking (rare occurences) since I was about 15. When I was 17 I started drinking a little more (with my parents even, but it's just a social thing). I still smoke pot periodically, but only in the late spring/summer/early fall and not when I have to work/go to school. I don't smoke cigarettes, although, I have a couple times when I was drunk. These few occurences I can somewhat trace back to my exposure to second hand smoke (you can get addicted to that too, and I used to sometimes feel cravings for it, which is super-gross).
I don't really think pot in itself is addictive. The people who are *addicted* to pot are just addicted to getting high, and really, any other drug could fill it's place.
As much as I love a nice cold beer on a hot summer day, I have to agree w/ iago about making alcohol illegal. From what I've seen, it's far more dangerous than pot. When I drink I get more aggressive. I refuse to drive, but some people are unable to make that type of rational decision. When I'm stoned, I like to just sit around and chill to my favourite bands. What's more dangerous?
But then, is that too extreme? If alcohol is illegal, then maybe tobacco should be to. I mean, hey lets smoke till we get cancer, and make others get it too because or 2nd hand smoke. What about Caffiene? Isn't that the single most addictive drug? I know far more people that are addicted to caffiene than cigarettes or drugs. Remember, one of the signs of an addiction is failing to recognize it. How many people do you know that have to drink a pot of coffee everyday, or drink a bottle of pepsi, otherwise they won't function? Far too many to count on me fingers and toes...that's for sure.
While we're slamming drugs, why not slam everything else? Pollution, our air is very unhealthy. The shit that they put in produce and meat to get higher yields. The bullshit milk companies saying how milk is so good for you. They couldn't be further from the truth.
So many err's in our ways...but where do you start to fix it all? People are resistant to change, and most will do anything in their power to fight it...
I hope you guys had as much fun reading this as I did writing it ;)

I remember when I was clueless, back in the old days. I rather miss that.
Now I find it funny when somebody told me, "My teacher said it smelled like pot. How's HE know what THAT smells like?" because it's so, like, natural that people do it.
But anyway, I think the problem is that people are going to keep doing stupid things and finding new ways to do stupid things, because people can't look after themselves. So they make laws making stupid things illegal, but people don't follow the laws. So what can you do? Make everything legal or make everything illegal -- in either case, people would just keep doing it.
In any case, moderation is the key to anything, but people suck at moderation and people suck at life. They want to do stupid things.
I really don't understand why people try things like Meth or Heroin, though. So many people have such serious problems with them, and so many people die from them, yet people still start. I just don't understand that.
Ohwell, the world sucks. What can you do? :)
There was a kid outside my house the other day chasing an indian child yelling "Im gonna kill you, youblack bastard". I couldnt beleive it.
I enjoyed that krazy nuk, I find I share many of your views. And while iago has a more dictator out-of-your-reach viewpoint, I can't say that I totally disagree with him. Freedom of choice, with harsher punishments for breaking laws. Eventually, the retards will weed themselves out, and society as a whole will grow better.
iago -- The problem isn't in trying, it's in lack of self control, it has nothing to do with drugs, everything to do with one's self. There is nothing wrong with trying things, you learn alot, and I feel that it can only make you a better person to experience things. Why will I try heroine eventually? Because people are addicted to it, because I might gain some insight on those who are addicted, because I can and I know I can control it. People who are addicted to drugs are addicted because of their personality.
Oh, but what if you can't controll the urge to have more heroin? Odds are that there have been thousands of people that sad "I'll try it just this once" & they end up dead somewhere. Why try it to begin with? People die from it, they do stupid things because of it, why encourage that behavior just a little by trying it yourself?
Maybe he wants to feel what those people addicted to it feel, to experience new things. People that keep saying "theres no way to get off once you're addicted" just plain simple don't want to get off it. They made a choice to keep doing it.
Inorder to feel like the ppl that are addictted to it, you have to be addicted. Why would you really want to 'feel addicted' to a drug that is harmful?

The problem is that they try to protect people from themselves, which you can't do. Like if some 15 year old OD's and kills himself, they make a huge deal out of it, and create stricter laws which changes nothing.
The problem might be that we value human life too much. They should re-enact prohibition and poison bootlegged alcohol. That would weed out all the people who don't follow the laws :)

I'm not sure I follow you when you say "legalize everything". Are you speaking purely of drugs? Or absolutely everything? The problem is you have to draw the line somewhere. Mentioning "so long as it doesn't affect others" i presume is your line, but then, every action you make has an effect on many other people...positive and negative. I say we should bring back Hammurabi's Code...that would be such a sweet way to carry out law enforcement. And it would make people *think* before they do shit. Or we can just put all the dumb fucks together on an island and have a new reality show called "Cannibal"

It's the same thing with pedophiles, necropheliacs (sp?), gamblers, etc. Their not necessarily addicted to a drug. But their psychological make-up dis-allows them from being able to make rational decisions. This is also known as a disorder, so can you really blame someone for doing something because their sick? I mean what if we brought back witch-hunting. I know it's far-fetched, but it some ways, it's kind of the same thing.
By legalizing everything I meant drugs only. By not affecting someone, I mean violating their rights as humans in any way.
I see your points about mental disorders, but still stand by my statement that the retards will weed themselves out and society as a whole will be better.

It doesn't matter if they support the war or not, if you're drafted you're supposed to go to war, not to Canada. Unless of course we're invading Canada (but I'm pretty sure we wouldn't need drafted men to take you guys). Obviously I'm referring to Vietnam draft dodgers as we don't have a draft now.

I think he means crazed hippies that started what the original post of this thread was about stopping...however they started using things other than cigarettes.
There were legit ways to not be drafted back in the Vietnam war. & now there is NO reason to not want to fight, these ppl joinned voluntarily.
No, what I was referring to is this article (http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,132971,00.html) which I posted back in September. In case you guys thought I was saying Canada was honoring cowards refusing to fight in todays war. It'd be kind of hard, since all those fighting are volunteers.
I am a crazed hippie? Cool!
Now, things are great. If Americans choose to, they can fight in the war. Whether or not the war should have ever happened is a great topic for a different thread :)
But yeah, I have no problem with the American army now, but I do have a problem with drafts. I think my country is great and all, I might even be willing to die for it, should it be threatened, but I wouldn't kill for it. I wouldn't kill for anything.
Why did you start talking about Draft Dodgers, anyway?
You MIGHT be willing to die for your country?!...some patiotism you have there, just like iago to turn on someone.
I wouldn't die for my country, I'd be just as happy living in the USA or Europe. To me, countries are just rainbow coloured pictures on a map.
heh, nice. Where are you from?
Think of the reasons the U.S. has fought in its last wars.
Veitnam: Contain communism and show that the democratic party was not "soft" on communism.
Iraq: Get rid of the "weapons of mass destruction", and the U.S. public wanted to go out and get someone for the events of 9/11/01.
It seems to me like the U.S. is trying to police the world.
And the collition of the willing? Mostly third world countries with little or no standing army. Morocco, for instance, has no standing army but offered to send several thousand trained monkeys to find land mines.
I personally think although the U.S. IS doing good things for the world, there are problems IN the U.S. that should be taken care of first. Like the fact that you are more likely to be murderd in Washington D.C. than killed in Iraq. How many soldiers have we lost? 2000 or something like that? How many Iraqi civilians have died at the hand of the U.S. army?
I am not quote "a crazed hippie". But I think nothing short of a decleration of war by another country, or an attack on U.S. soil, would warrent going to war with another country.
I would be willing to fight in a war IF I belived it was for a good cause. But I do not belive policing the world, no matter how virtous the intent, is not something any country should do.

Don't you think that the concept of "war" and "fighting for your country" are still glorified to the extent that the people they are enlisting don't know what their getting themselves into?
i personally think that invading any country is retarded. We're supposed to be advancing civilization, not knocking their asses back to the stone age.
I have so much to say to those last two posts, mostly the word 'moron' or something like it, but we're getting really off topic. This should go in stupid arguments.
LOL....
I could argue different viewpoints of this for hours on end...I hope I don't start :S
And I didn't use the word "moron" or anything like it in my last post :P
Yeah, it's up to the Americans to police the world, because who else would? I mean, obviously the Americans know what's best, right? It's not like there's crime or poverty in the US, so clearly they know best. I'm glad that one country takes it upon itself to solve all the world's problems. It's not like other countries can look after themselves or anything.
LOL @ iago!
It reminds me of those canvassers that came door to door last year askign for money for relief in Iraq or something. I'm not the type that'll give money to any door to door canvasser. I just dont' trust people....But these people were talking like their cause was the only cause in the world. When I told them there was crime, and guns, and poverty in Canada and the US they denied it.
And it's funny that all of a sudden the US cares about Iraq, but their not bombing the hell out of Korea.
And so many people overlook the fact that there are many war torn countries with children being treated as slaves, and being raped, and killed every day. Those type of stories would make the US (and the rest of the "worldly" people) look bad. It's like if you ignore it, then it just doesn't exist.
but seriously, it's enough flogging the US. We do it because it's so easy. I'm sure everyone has approx. the same amount of fuck-ups. It's just the US like like the loud noisy kid that always has to tell everyone what he's doing (like a top-secret nuclear investigation in some far-off country). In reality, we're all to blame for our idoicy (and somewhat barbaric nature).
Maybe we don't go into N Korea because there might be other consequences other than us destroying an evil government. Maybe China will step in like last time to help them out. Maybe N Korea DOES have nuclear weapons.

But, I guess I know what you meant, you're saying I think that all Muslims are terrorists. Wrong! It's a peaceful religion, and true Muslims have even said that Osama and his cronies aren't true Muslims and that they're a disgrace to the religion. The definition of terrorist:
QuoteOne who utilizes the systematic use of violence and intimidation to achieve political objectives, while disguised as a civilian non-combatant. The use of a civilian disguise while on operations exempts the perpetrator from protection under the Geneva Conventions, and consequently if captured they are liable for prosecution as common criminals.

Actually, I don't think that the Mid East countried COULD have a mother country, since humans basically came from that area, no? Wouldn't it be more like the Mid east is the old senile grandparents that forget what they're fighting about & keep fighting anyway & the kids have to calm them down?
A lot of them were controlled by the United Kingdom. Who cares where we came from - that's not relevant in this discussion, Western European countries had stronger armies back when the world was developing and during their religious wars they nearly anniliated the muslims. Another definition of Terrorism (from dictionary.com)
Quote
the calculated use of violence (or threat of violence) against civilians in order to attain goals that are political or religious or ideological in nature; this is done through intimindation or coercion or instilling fear
And don't tell me that Bush didn't use the threat of violence ( 9/11 attacks ) to get re-elected. He keeps referring to the fact that the USA is not safe until his terrorist crusade is complete. He also tried to make it look like Kerry would not go after terrorists if he was elected.
Think about it. Scaring the shit out of someone (and making them think that you're their one and only saviour) definately helps to get the votes. Terrorism isn't just "blowing shit up".
Moral of the story: Don't play with big words, because they bite back :(
The US WON'T be fafe until all the terrorists are gone...how would we be safe if the terrorists are still there!?
Kerry was too damn confusing about what he wanted, he's probably the one that made everyone think that he wouldn't go after terrorists. He never stayed constant on his position about Iraq, whether or not to stay or if it was the right decision to begin with.
Bush didn't "scare the shot out anyone" & make them vote for him, government agencies saw a threat & are learning from their pre-9/11 mistakes & are warning people.
I didn't play with big words...
It started here:

& it became a debate whether or not the USA has a terroristic government.
Haha, Mr. Nuk actually made a lot of sense there, I never really thought about it that way. Bush DID use the 9/11 attacks and threats of more attacks to help himself get re-elected. You can't deny that he used the fear of terrorism to help him campaign which is, by definition, terrorism. Hah.
And yeah, fear is a very common political tactic. I'd call "Do things our way or we'll blow you up" a way of causing terror, no different from running a plane into a building. The difference is, the US has power to blow stuff up, whereas the "terrorists" are fairly powerless, and are forced to resort to sneak attacks. How else do you fight the US? Because the US has the most power doesn't make all of its decisions right, it just makes it more difficult to fight it.
I DO recall both candidates saying that they will continue to keep fighting terroism, Kerry however changed his mind OFTEN so you could argue either sidee for him. I also remember seeing an interview with Kerry where he was asked if he thought that the US would ever be as safe as it was however many years ago, he said no.
Same thing as Bush did, they BOTH knew that terrorists are a threat & stated that something needed to be done, Kerry is the only one that couldn't make up his mind on WHAT to do though, Bush took action.

hrrrmmmm...where's Noam Chomsky when you need him...
The reality is, I don't think "all the terrorists" will ever be gone. In order to eliminate terrorism, you would have to first eliminate violence (and that's starting to sound like a chicken-egg relation).
Now, lets look at the churches (because their so much fun...:D). Religion is another perfect example of terrorism. "If you don't believe in god you will go to hell". Well what happens in "Hell"? As far as I've been told hell is a bad place where you will suffer for the rest of time. I'm afraid of suffering, so that means I should believe in god, and i'll be safe? Well, I'm atheist, so I don't buy into that kinda stuff, but the idea of having to believe in something otherwise you suffer IS a form of terrorism. Not to mention it's also a shot against your freedom of speech and expression (but that belongs in a seperate thread).

Kerry was too damn confusing about what he wanted, he's probably the one that made everyone think that he wouldn't go after terrorists. He never stayed constant on his position about Iraq, whether or not to stay or if it was the right decision to begin with.
And Bush wasn't confusing at all?
Quote
Bush didn't "scare the shot out anyone" & make them vote for him, government agencies saw a threat & are learning from their pre-9/11 mistakes & are warning people.
Are you saying that Bush didn't scare anyone? Are you afraid of terrorists attacking the USA? Yeah, I thought so. Bush used that idea to instill the notion that the USA isn't safe. Then he offered himself as a saviour by declaring a war on terrorism. Has the USA been attacked since? (BTW, I have this really cool keyboard that keeps bears and elephants away. Asking $500 firm....it's the same logic).
I think you need to face this issue with a little more of an open mind. Your defending the USA, yet I'm not attacking it. I merely stated a point "People throughout the world use Terror as a politcal tactic". I even outrightly stated my own country of residence to eliminate any idea that I was making an attack on one nation. Then I used the example of the US election because just about everybody knows about it, and that's the road this thread has been travelling down.

My smoke log:
23rd: 18 smokes
24th: 2 smokes (this is the day I started trying to quit)
25th: 1 smoke
Future smoke plans:
26th: 1 (But hopefully none)
27th: NONE --- OR I WILL TAKE MY LIFE (and everyone elses')
23rd: 18?!?! that is like 1.5 packs!..isn't it?
Were you pretending to be a train that day?
18 is nothing I nopeople who are smoking around 3 packs aday.
up here in canada, our packs are 25. I knew of quite a few people that smoked at least a pack a day. My uncle used to smoke up to 3 some days...but then he quit! :D

Ouch...
Reasons we're not going out anymore:
1. I didn't want to move out w/ her while i was living at home for free and had other major bills to pay (owe my parents like $4k, plus i owed a bunch on my car too).
2. She cheated on me w/ a guy that she met on the bus 5 days beforehand. And then kept seeing him behind my back.
Hence, I have every right to call her an inconsiderate bitch, and a whore, and whatever else i so choose.
Depressive because depression runs in her family, and she was always bitching about how depressed she was about everything. Nothing anyone would do could make her smile (except for me...).
Baggage, because she's always depressed, and carries a lot of emotional baggage.....I hope she tries to kill herself!

The girls on the bus are hos, hos, hos...

I wish I would've though ;)
Also, from Experience, band trips can get people in the mood to do some stuff that doesn't normally happen during a school activity.
NOTE: I'm reffering to mid school-high school trips involving totally sober people.
A group of 20 or more high school students, all totally sober??? That is hard to believe.
MID-high school... ranging from 7th to 12th grade generally. It is on a bus with chaperones, I think it'd be WAY hard to get even the slightest bit buzzed on a bus with @ least 3 chaperones.

Maybe to smoke pot or drink, you'd be able to get away with almost anything else.
I imagine it would be pretty damn easy to get drunk on a bus, even with chaperones on the bus.
Same here...bottle of pepsi, 1/2 filled w/ rum or rye...no problemo!
Some gum to mask the smell..and everybody's laughin!
Or, people could stop being so damn stupid with alcohol? That would be pretty cool. Then I would not get calls from my friends at two in the morning telling me that they need a ride home, and they are 30 minutes away from my house....

It's much better that they're asking for a ride than driving themselves, at least. I don't mind picking up friends.
Yea I wouldn't mind giving a drunk friend whos responsible enough to call me for a ride, its better than seeing them get in trouble or getting hurt.

All you have to do is keep on unquitting then quitting...then we'll be able to talk about your quitting.
So far I have started, quit, unquit, ununquit, unununquit, ununununquit, and now unununununquit.
And I named ununundium.

Edit: The p2p craze, eXeem (http://www.exeem.com/). Discuss.
There's already a topic (or two) on eXeem.
Fine.
Anime is cool. Discuss.
Anime sucks.
How's the non-smoking?
Anime is a bunch of horny cartoon characters with jacked up features...how can that be cool?
While talking to a friend(BIG pot head) I asked "Why was cannabis banned to begin with?" Just curioues as to if anybody knows. I dont but will search google. It must have offended someone high up.
I think I remember reading somewhere that mexicans brought it to the states because it helped them deal with the stress of their jobs, and americans thought it made you crazy, so they banned it.
It was to get Mexican immigrants (spelling?) out of Texas and New Mexico in the early 1900's.
And anime is the best. Well, Family Guy beats the shit out of everything animated so... yeah.
I don't like Anigay, or Anime for that matter.
Anime sucks

So from that, it's safe to assume that if it's not family guy, and it's not anime, then you don't like it?
And btw, the reason it's still banned here is because when they talked about legallizing it, the American Government threatened all sorts of trade sanctions and stuff, so Canada was forced to drop the idea.
Either way, i'm glad they did. :)
That is just a part of my "Do I like it?" function. Here is a little more:
if (show.name == "Star Trek"
{
cout << "I LOVE IT!\n";
}
if (show.goodness > good)
{
cout << "I LOVE IT!\n";
}
else if (show.goodness > mediocre)
{
cout << "I Like It!\n";
}
else if (show.goddness == mediocre)
{
cout << "It is OK.\n";
}
else if (show. goodness <= bad)
{
cout << "EWWW! Get it away!\n";
}
As you can see, I like anything with a goodness of >= mediocre.

Note that peyote is legal under the American Indian Religious Freedom Act for American Indians (illegal for non-Natives). Most people do not feel a sensation of being "high" unlike marijuana nor are hallucinations common. So I don't know that it has similar effects.

It is the Americans fault. For example, when is the last time something good about the government got more than 30 seconds of news coverage? Us Americans only focus on the bad things in this country, but we never try to fix them.
We need a president like FDR to turn this country around.
Why would we focus on the good things? Isn't focusing on bad things a first step to fixing them? You have to recognize whats wrong before you can fix it.
But my point is only the first step is taken.

How bout this: I neither pity nor hate America, I realize that we as a country are in a downward spin that will either reverse itself or continue downward until the rest of the world gets pissed off and America gets invaded (more likely).

When they were filming 'The Day After Tommorow' the US military donated 6 or so Apache helicopters. Officials in Canada had to reassure residents of where they were filming (Toronto I think) that they were not being invaded by the United States.
Donated or sold....? I have a hard time believing the government would just give away multi-million dollar helicopters
I'm sure part of the movie went to renting them.

I also have quit smoking cigarettes habitually. It's been since summer of last year since I've had one. I have had cigars since then, but hey, you don't inhale (the clinton defense!) with cigars.

I thought the clinton defense was that you don't swallow.....
What I mean by that is, good job! :)
But I don't understand: what's the point if you don't inhale?
Clinton responded to the question "Have you ever smoke marijuana before" by saying "Yes, but I didn't swallow"?
Cigars are a status symbol, no? There is no need to inhale if you have a good cigar..you look UBER cool!

The only friend I know who has inhaled cigar smoke got high off it, then again the room was hotboxed with all manner of things so it might not have just been that. Either way, it can't be good for you, but he didn't get sick.

Problem with smoking in my family is most who smoked has had a serioues stroke. My Grampa smoke from 14 till about 60 when he had a heartattack, then a stroke at 71. My Grandad smoked from about 20. He had a heartattack and has just recoverd from a stroke. Both my Nana and Grandma smoked then quit and they are ok. My auntie smoked at least 40 a day up until about 10 years ago. And she is still really bad from her stroke. My mum smoked through out college and is fine. It has been hard for me to resist as much as I have, when I used to roll my Grampas cig's when i was about 7 years old, as he had a job. Worst thing I have ever done.

Yes, didn't you know? Toronto is the capital of Canada.
J'all have one of them there Capeetalls? Well how about them apples.
Side note, those stop smoking patches, couldn't you get addicted to those too?...just instead of cigs?
I don't know how much the patches are, but the gum is $50 for 40 peices. ~10 pc/day (one for every two I smoked) so about $56 per week in gum.
As opposed to smoking, ~20 cigs/day, 20 is 3.19~3.50 so ~$22.33 a week in cigs.
It is cheaper to keep smoking in the short run.

It depends on your defitinition of a hangover, you're usually semi stoned for awhile even after you've come down. Your thoughts are sometimes warped, and as K and iago mentioned you may get paranoid and lethargic. Your ability to learn is greatly hindered, to the point where you almost can't learn (depending on use). When I was smoking daily I'd understand abstract information being taught to me very easily, but it would usually be gone or fuzzy the next day, and the next week totally gone. Scientists say your mind goes over information at night and that's how you remember, I think that's the most impacted. You can also develope a mental addiction to it (I say physical is possible, but most people would say no).
On that note, I haven't had any weed since new years :)

I get it from my parents, and plus when I was young I was constantly on penicillan, or some variation. I avoid taking Advil or other unnecessary drugs unless I absolutely have to.
Back to the point, good for you :)
The most influential antibiotic of our time, and I'm allergic to it. Sucks to be me. I get whooping cough and I have to take some weird antibiotic 'cause I'll swell up and die from penicillin.
I get the saem kind of problem with penicilin. If I take it I cant eat anything for days and can only drink a teaspoon of water every hour otherwise ill throw up.
Pot has less poisons in it, doesn't it?

If it's all naturally grown, but growers sometimes spray it to keep it healthy.
We already talked about pot twice in this thread.
Hurry up and quit or dye please. This has gone on long enough. :P
I am dying my hair blue...
Really? Hope it turns out better than the last attempt ;D
Yes. No more shit-green hair.

I wouldn't eat a raw bud... it can be used to spice meat dishes, you can make tea with it, or you can put it in foods that mask the flavors like chocolate cakes or brownies. Some good indicas taste good just sauted or you can cook them in butter and save the butter for cooking.
We did that for thanksgiving and mixed it with the butter, it came out real nice. However, the brownies were a bit disapointing.
Speaking of this thread, has Shout finished quitting yet?
You know he will never stop quiting then starting again. ::)

Why are you relying on someone else to do it for you? Do you not have the mental capacity to do it yourself?
Somebody procrastinating about giving up smoking? Nah!
:(
Thats right, feel bad about it. Thats a good step towards quiting.
Shout, instead of getting them from the school, get your own.
Or why dont you threaten your school for them ;) That could always work.

I did look into getting patches not from the school, and my insurance will pay for them. I have to go to the doctor to get a perscription because I am under 18.

Remember, I live

I smoked a few drags off 1 cigarette, I by far have not become a smoker
Tripple slap.
CrAz3D: Your girlfriend isn't gonna wanna make out with you if you have stinky smokers breath.
Wuz gunna say that
I kiss my girlfriend who has stinky smokers breath.
Because you do too.
I wouldn't date a smoker.
Neither would i trust. I hate smokers, and that icky, smelly, stinky horrible breathe. :-X
2 drags & I'm a smoker?...:(
She doesn't like beer & still kisses me after I drink...mm, beer, sounds good right now. Yay clarinet/sax/random people campout next weekend! 2 nights of drunken fun, just need to figure out how to get 'stuff' there...I don't think it is legal for me to drive with no one that is 21 & have alcohol (esp since I have to drive through a border patrol checkpoint)
Then Oct. 1 there is another campout, whoo...maybe I'll smoke natural stuff there. Anyone know anything fun to smoke that might exist naturally @ a lake or in the mountains (not weed, although I can find it in the mountains)
poison ivy.
