Interesting...  a lot of Americans think Canadians are very socialist, (probably because of our awesome healthcare system), but the minimum wage here isn't much different.  In 2005 the minimum wage was $5.90 (CDN) in all of Alberta, and in most provinces it's $6-8 (CDN).  That's equal to or less than what it seems to be over there :P.

Yeah, but when translated to American currency, you're left with...

It's funny that you should mention that, because the Canadian currency has been doing so very well compared to yours.  In 2001, $1 CDN = 60 cents US.  Now, $1 CDN = 90 cents US.    If the trend continues (and there isn't a compelling reason it won't), soon $1 CDN >> $1 US.

Just laughing at how clever it was, regardless of how true/false it may be.

Naturally I go and buy these purses for her and then we have a fight.

Oh, and Lauren told me how she likes Nantucket Red more than Nantucket Blue, but her best friend (who I hate) likes the red and is buying it (and returning her coach bag she got for her birthday to get the vera because now Lauren wants a vera and the girls like to be like lauren) so she's not "allowed" to have red (which is good for me since I got her blue.)

But anyway, now she's mad because her 12 year old sister got a cell phone and Lauren wasn't allowed to get one until she was in 9th grade. And apparently her dads saying she cant get a car until shes 18 (I don't beleive that he would do that.) Anyway, she was really upset about her sister getting the phone and took it out on me. Then she was more upset by the fact that I didn't agree that her sister shouldn't get the phone. So then I leave the room and she calls the aforementioned friend about how shes frustrated with me and stuff. So I go back in and we just dont talk for like 45 minutes. Then she yells at me and it's just bad, she slammed her door screamed at me etc. I ended up leaving an hour and a half early, and I hope she feels bad because it's her fault. And I'm sure she does, because I got up to leave one time and she like chased me down the hall (but I wanted to hear what she told her friend on the phone so I stopped in her sisters room to listen through the wall...but the point is she chased me.)

She gave me this shirt I had given her back too (it was mine.) The store where I bought the handbag has a no refund/exchanges policy (they offer store credit but I dont want another handbag...so I hope this isn't like a break up or anything.) I'm pretty sure she'll get over it.

You're on the verge of breaking up over a cell phone?

Um no way. I think it's completely stupid and I told her I wasn't leaving until she explained to me what was wrong (it was more than just the cell phone apparently) but she just wouldn't. I think it's the principle of the matter...the fact that I didn't support her when she was upset, regardless of WHY she was upset. There's no way I would break up with her over something so petty, but I don't know if she would. She just doesn't like not getting her way, because she's gotten her way for so many years. I'm the same way (though not as bad as her since her parents continue to give give give where mine stopped and made me get things myself more often) and when you put us together we both try to get our own way I guess - although I try to compromise more with her...by compromise I mean let her do what she wants because even when she tells me she wont do something that I dont want her to do she does it anyway.
