CPU is okay, but what happend to the mobo and RAM we talked about? Did it go over budget?

I have the same cpu and a BFG 8600GTS.
You won't be dissapointed.  The CPU is amazing.  You might want to look into an aftermarket heatsink to consider overclocking possibilities in the future.

Check out pioneers sata burner, it's what I have, and very good.
Why MSI?  I have the Asus P5K mobo and love it.  Are you an avid overclocker?  The boards only complaint is the placement of the IDE controller, and purported "vdroop" of the vcore.
Both rather inconsequential when you consider the benefits.

That's your call.
He was referring to the P5B Deluxe, not the P5K.  He has a P5W.
His model has a remote and lets you control a few things with their "digital home" technology, as well as the Wi-Fi AP (really sexy).  The perk of the P5K is the Intel P35 chipset that will support newer processors yet to be released.  It supports a lot of neat stuff.

Maybe you'd want the P5K-E Deluxe or P5K Deluxe WiFi.

I'm getting a case with a PSU because all the good cases without a PSU are really expensive. So I'm going to get a good case with a PSU and replace it with one that I'm buying.
