Nice.

Way to go big companies, catering to China, *high five* bowing down to communism & such.

What is your problem, seriously?  It looks from the article that Yahoo is just complying with Chinese law with their Chinese stationed unit in China.  How is this catering and bowing down to communism?  Quite frankly, I doubt they'd be in China if it didn't benefit them from a capitalisitc perspective.  They are simply obiding Chinese law to remain in China, for their benefits.  If you don't like that, then why do you like capitalism?

CrAz3D

I love capitalism, I dislike communism, they clash....alot

Yes, they're complying with Chinese law (@ least they comply with US law unlike Google).
But Yahoo is turning over people for criticizing China's government?...hmm, how lovely

In compliance with Chinese law.  I also don't think it's been established that Google was breaking the law either...We'll have to wait and see what the courts say.

Subpoenas are legal documents, not complying with one is generaly illegal.

You need to stop posting knee-jerk reaction threads and think about what you post before you post it.

CrAz3D

I thunked about it.
Yahoo is handing over people for criticizing the Chinese government, I find that rather sad.
I realize that it is Chinese law but why is Yahoo not obeying? (other than it is the law)

The point is, they are obeying Chinese law by turning these people over.  They unknowingly broke the law, but ignorance of the law is no excuse.

I'm just expressing criticism of Yahoo for complying with totalitarian censorship laws, there are ways to get around it...at least that's what I gathered from the article about having the servers in the US & such

But it's not okay for Google to not comply with a subpoena even though requesting such records can be viewed as totalitarian?

DarkMinion

Crazed, what do you not understand about complying with a country's laws if you are operating within that country?

I understand that they're just complying, I also understand that there are ways for them to 'work around' the Chinese law and let people get 'real' information about what they search
