The first thing I plan to do after being elected to the Senate is getting stupid people banned/burned at the stake.

WTF dude, if it is too loud just turn it down.  I believe his wound is self inflicted as he had control over it.  You don't see people cutting their hand off suing the knife maker (I haven't seen it anyway).

What are your views on his lawsuit?...justified or not?

Dude, you should totally join my political party.  Our main platform is having stupid drivers deported to France.

Good thing I have a g/f that can drive, I wouldn't want to lose her with most of all other females leaving.
I couldn't work @ the DMV, I would have moral conflictions with handing a license to a woman.

If you post any more stupid crap, I'm going to cut your hand off.  Perhaps then you can be the one suing the knife maker.

Yeah its stupid, suing someone because you had your mp3player up to loud.
I'm just asking for opinions if the guy has a case or not.  Does Apple REALLY have any responsibility to warn people that playing their music too loud may damage their hearing?

While this is obviously a money-grab lawsuit, Apple is somewhat at fault here, too.  Despite having already been forced to modify the iPods in France to limit the output to 100dB, they apparently did not even put a warning label or insert with the iPods sold elsewhere.  This suit sounds like it wants Apple to do that, and I don't see the harm with forcing Apple to warn idiots that its device is capable of producting ear-damaging levels of sound.  Remember that idiots are not smart, and they may think that although the sound levels are painful(?), they will not damage their hearing.  Surely Apple would not sell them something that can permanently damage their hearing, right?  I'm not saying idiots should be compensated for being stupid, but come on, Apple can include a warning saying "settings over (14 or whatever) can cause permanent hearing loss if used more than 28 seconds per day."

It really amazes me that so many people actually need to be told about that...it seems like common sense that if it hurts, its probably NOT ALL THAT GOOD.
Grif: Yeah, and the people in the red states are mad because the people in the blue states are mean to them and want them to pay money for roads and schools instead of cool things like NASCAR and shotguns.  Also, there's something about ketchup in there.

When designing things like loud headphones and hot coffee, you have to take into account what the more ignorant person will do, then tell them not to do it.

If it were designed to kill the ignorant person, you'd have family members or close relatives seeking retribution.  Someone should go to the man's property, slip and take a hard dive on some dog feces (if he has a dog) that's on the sidewalk in front of his yard, and then sue him for your injuries.

Oh, the ignorance.
