Is there currently a war going on that I haven't heard of?  I thought Iraq was over (still occupied, but they aren't fighting)
This'll make an interesting test for broken AV:

I think jury duty would be fun...I don't know why people don't like it.

It's technically over, but they are still fighting. "War" is used loosely now, as there are competing definitions. One definition just says war is the waging of an armed conflict on an enemy, while another says that it must be declared and ended via official declaration applicable to the international rules of war. Considering we're fighting some rebels and not an actual government, it can go either way. Why does that matter though? It's still required to plan out moves because we're trying to stablize a country.

Because they don't get paid for all of those days of missed work, and on some trials that period can be a long time.

You get paid by the court & at work (depending upon who you work for I think).

I believe if you work for the state you still get paid while on jury duty.

From what I hear the amount you get paid isn't really that much.

It's not. Recently my shop teacher had to serve jury duty. Someone was charged with breaking and entering and armed robery.

I served on a 1st degree murder trial a few months ago, and it was not fun at all.
