Hrrrmmm.....

This should make it a little more obvious (look closer!) incase no one has noticed it yet. Please leave it for someone who doesn't have an account yet. :P

Thanks!  Gave it to my cousin now that I'm out of invites.

What's so great about Gmail compared to other free e-mail services?  Other than the obvious 1GB of storage...

I'd prefer to continue using MS Outlook 2003 and a server where I can utilize unlimited space...And who honestly uses 1GB of space for their e-mail?  Don't you people delete old messages?  Even if you save important messages (understandable) do you really save 1GB worth?  Hmm...

10mb limit on sending files, as opposed to Hotmails 1mb? Also, I find the interface in gmail is alot more friendly than hotmail, it takes less time to load, and it's easy to get used to. Options are also easier to change than hotmail.

GMail is designed so you don't have to delete messages. The interface loads just like google.com, fast and it's clean and user friendly. There's many reasons apart from juse the storage limites.

It's also MUCH better for transferring photos to people.  Everyone I know uses Hotmail and 50% of the time I go to send someone digital images their account space is full due to the 2mb limit.  I'm gradually giving out Gmail accounts to everyone we do photo swamping with so we don't have to worry about that problem for a long time.

I like the workspace a lot more in Gmail also.

However, looking at the image Thing provided I don't see how it compares to MS Outlook 2003.  I'm not against Gmail really, and I can see why someone would use it over Hotmail and Yahoo now.  But, for those of people who have access to a server for their e-mail account (vL members?  Spht?), why not use MS Outlook 2003 which has a by far better interface than Google it seems to me.

Outlook is way bloated.  I uninstalled it about 2 years ago.  Yes, vL members can use Valhalla Legend's e-mail server, but why would I want to suck up the server's bandwidth transferring photos when I can use Google's server which has a lot of bandwidth.

You're thinking of a small group too much.  Not everyone has their own server which gives them 100GB of e-mail storage.  Continue to use Outlook if that's what you like, and don't use Gmail.

Thinking of the public, Gmail is excellent.  Everyone has 1GB of storage for sending e-mails and transferring photos for years, and have a nice interface to do it in.

Spht said it -- Outlook is bloated. I also find Outlook hard to configure, because I've always just used hotmail and am not used to how it runs. Not to mention, (ew!) security risks. Google is like a faster version of hotmail.

The thing that bugs me the most is I use Opera currently, until I reformat. Hotmail is made by microsoft and supports Opera. Google is made by google, which is anti-microsoft in a way (I'm sure microsoft made a generous offer to buy them, and they didn't accept out of spite), and I can't use Opera to log into Gmail (due to activeX being disabled, unless somebody knows how to change this).

I have access to a mail server with my websites, I still don't use outlook for them. Whenever I check them I do it on the web, because I just don't like Outlook/Outlook Express.

I can't get gmail to open in IE, and I have ActiveX on as well as gmail listed as a trusted site. It doesn't like me :P

You need to allow JavaScript for Gmail.

Firefox blows. If I could get used to it, I'd use it. I may end up getting used to it, but for now I'm sticking with the IE based Avant Browser -- suits all my needs perfectly.
