Yes, it seems as though they did try to go back to the 'good old days', but they failed. I don't mind the new album too much, I just don't think of it as Metallica. They incorporate some really new stuff into their songs that I haven't heard before, which is why I'm attracted to it. What could have made it better? Kirk needed to solo, James needed to learn how to sing again, and Lars needs to put the snare back on his snare drum.

To top it all off, the album just sounds like crap. From what I understand, they mixed it poorly for the sole purpose of trying to make themselves sound more like grunge, more like a garage band -- it's horrible. *shudder*

I like R&B, Jazz, 80's Pop, some hip hop and rap if the tune is good. Suppose any song with a good melody I would take over that stupid shit you guys listen to. Go bang your heads and commit suicide already. :p
