Politics / Re: US Credit Rating
January 05, 2012, 05:31 PM
After some more deliberation, I think Ron Paul has been treated terribly by the mainstream media, whether it is is left wing, right wing, or middle of the road.  Even though he did so well in the polls he was obviously ignored (they would show a poll where Ron Paul is second, and just gloss over it completely, and talk about first, third, fourth, fifth place candidates).  And the rare times he is discussed he is just dismissed as ridiculous.

I don't agree with many of his positions, but he is honest, consistent and intelligent, and has a lot of support.  The establishment just does not like him because he wants to rid them of their influence.

What about Ron Paul?

I think in 2008, when he became widely known, he was refreshingly honest and a lot of what he said had substance and made sense.  But I don't have much confidence in him as a potential president.  I think some of his ideas are too hardline and completely ridiculous, he is too old, and he is just one man who surrounds himself with people who seem like lunatics.  Who would be running the show with him?  The thought scares me...

Really none of the choices look good imo...

Can't wait to see the chaos this causes - safe to say most everyone in the federal government will have election trouble. Well, I hope anyway - who knows, but, the fireworks should be fun to watch. :-[

so who is voting for obama and their current congressmen again?  :P

What's the alternative?

Four years is a bump?  I thought that was relatively fast paced for things around here.

Neither is good, except Bush is fiscally sound, so I'd vote for him.

Brainwashed fool.  And relatively speaking, you're not stupid.  This thread is very interesting.

News / Re: Merry Christmas and Happy Birthday(3rd)

Merry Christmas.... and happy 9th birthday.  Obviously this is no longer the same community it used to be, but it's still a place where good old friends can reach one another, and for that I'm very happy that it still exists.

It's not a clan like it was years ago. Now it's just this forum.

It is just as possible for us to consider a join request now as it was years ago.  It's also presumptuous to speak definitively about the status of a clan you are not part of.

Stellar, why are you interested in joining?  I'm usually more curious why someone decides he wants to join, than in what ways he thinks he will appeal to the clan.

This was given to me on a timed calculus test with 7 questions (several years ago).

Suppose satisfies for all

Show that

Notation: The notation may be confusing, so I will explain.  f is continuous in the closed interval from 0 to 1, and the absolute value of its derivative is less than A in this interval.  We want to show the inequality for all natural numbers n (n = 0, 1, 2, ...).  It is unlikely you will find a solution to this problem on the internet.  Do not get hung up on small technicalities, you do not need to be very careful about definitions to develop a general idea of how to solve this.  I will post two different proofs after some attempts have been made.

Edit: I will fix the images later.  For now, just right click and "view image".

That link doesn't change the fact that patients have come to my friends, days after having taken ecstasy, permanently afflicted with Parkinson's, or paralyzed.  It doesn't change the fact that ecstasy (especially "street ecstasy") has been rigorously linked to these problems.

Posting a link to a questionable website, with no comments, or anything meaningful to accompany the link, adds nothing to this discussion.

Ecstasy is not safe (compared to alcohol, marijuana, or most other things), Ringo.  I have friends who are medical doctors, and according to them, it's not uncommon to see people who have developed Parkinson's disease, or have even become paralyzed, through ecstasy use.
