I used Ubuntu without any problems on my Dell Inspiron laptop. Everything worked out of the box, except my wireless network driver. The wireless driver was a well know issue though, and only didn't work out of the box due to some license thing. Fixing that issue took me all of 30 seconds, probably, since it still offered to download it for me - just couldn't ship with it.

Mine too, quicker to set up than xp

I think he meant format and reinstall, not that it shipped with pirated software.

Politics / Re: Man Executed For Drugs

I lived in an middle class neighborhood, it was hard to find someone willing to buy us beer because there wasn't much in it for them, however, they made money off the illegal drugs.
I am in no way shape or form saying legalizing drugs would make it impossible for kids to get, but it would make it a little harder, and there is no real reason why they are illegal in the first place.

Are you saying children don't abuse drugs that are illegal to them but legal to adults? If so, you're quite mistaken.

No, but it is much easier for a kid to get illegal street drugs than it is alcohol.  I know at fourteen I had access to cocaine and pot but alcohol was almost impossible to get.

Don't use super glue, if anything use JB Weld, you can pick it up at home depot or autzone.
You get more of it in a tube and it holds much better than super glue.

On another note, make sure you wrap the inside in something, aluminum is a conductor.

Web Development / [PHP]Cookies

Says header info can't be modified, but I am calling my function before any of the html on the page.

function login($username,$password)
{
mysql_select_db('vbulletin') or die(mysql_error());
$scan = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM `vb3_user` WHERE `username` = '$username'") or die(mysql_error());
$row = mysql_fetch_array($scan) or die(mysql_error());

$p = $row['password'];
$salt = $row['salt'];
$password = md5(md5($password) . $salt);
$userid = $row['userid'];

if($p == $password)
{
$password = md5($password);
@setcookie('bbuserid',$userid,time()+60*60*24*365);
@setcookie('bbpassword',$password,time()+60*60*24*365);
echo 'Logged In!';

}else{
echo 'Username or Password incorrect.';
}
}

and the page it is called on

<?
ERROR_REPORTING(E_ALL);
include('funcs.php');
$port = new funcs();
$port -> connect();
$port -> checkCookie();

if(isset($_POST['login']))
{
$port -> login($_POST['username'], $_POST['password']);
}
?>

That's the mentality that allows people to get away with killing/mugging/raping people in broad day, in the middle of a crowd. Everyone is too scared to do anything...but what about when somethings happening to you, wouldn't you want someone to help?

It's called being one of the masses. They're good at it. ;)

Sorry, for some reason I see a difference in stealing beer and raping someone.

Yeah I didn't really count that as I do it while I sit at work.   I guess that counts too though, so I do have quite a bit of homework.

I was in the same kind of situation a few weeks ago at Krogers(Grocery store). It was around 12am and my friend and I were getting something to drink. We just got through checking out and the lady pointed at two guys who were walking to the door each with a 12 pack and kept yelling stop. So my friend started running after them, so what the hell why not? Luckily the two dumbasses ran through the wrong door, which only opens from the outside, it was funny watching them bounce off the door, it was probably the only reason we caught up to them. I grabbed the 2nd guy and my friend chased the other one that finally pushed the door open.

After we got them down and the police finally got there. They arrested the guy that got outside but when they got to me, they just let my guy go... I couldn't believe that shit, I asked them why and they told me that unless they get outside the store, its only considered "intent to steal, not actually stealing". So I guess we just follow them till they get outside next time, what difference does it make?

So I guess the guy has to actually drive away in the car before it was considered stealing? lol

Why did you care that they were stealing beer?  Did it really effect you in the slightest?  You're lucky you didn't get hurt trying to stick your nose in someone elses buisness....

This is not very political.

I thought maybe congress was considering a bill to regulate font size in a legal document before clicking on the thread.

So, CrAz3D, if I broke into your house with no weapons, no knife, no gun, would you beat me to death with a bat?

That is why it's assault. You subdue him or call the local law enforcement, not turn into a vigilante and beat the shit out of him because you're angry.

Beat to death?  I think that is an overstatement, I would however beat the fuck out of you untill I was damn sure you were no longer a threat to me.

the homework question was some what hard to answer.  9/10 I have none, but at times I can have 12 hours worth of homework.  Didn't really know how to answer that one.

No homework? Wtf? Do you go to middle school or something?

No, I am in college.  Not a whole lot in the way of homework other than the occasional essay.
