Title: vL on wikipedia
Post by: Ender on January 02, 2006, 08:17 PM
I'm not sure if this is a wideknown fact, but I searched this site for a similar topic as the one I'm creating, and couldn't find one. So here it is, vL on wikipedia! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Valhalla_legends

I looked up other bnet clans on wikipedia, and didn't find many. I find it kinda cool that vl's on wikipedia. And any of us can add to it! (I mean for the better, not for the worse.) I wonder who first put vL on wikipedia and who edited it (I didn't do any edits).

Since there's Korean in there, it was probably Sargera.  He seems to enjoy writing Korean on English documents.

That is a horrible resource. Aparently, the entire clan updates BNLS, which is actually done by UserLoser, who despite regularing these forums, is not a member. Also, the clan itself did not document the BNCS protocol, but Arta and Skywing did.

This informative post was brought to you by High King Jojo. =)

Actually, BNLS was originally maintained by Skywing, Yoni, and Spht. Userloser just so happens to maintain version updates now. Documentation of the BNCS protocol predates vL; however, Bnetdocs is infact Arta's creation with contributions from Skywing and I suspect Adron played atleast some part.

Also if you care to read the rules page you'll see that things belong to their original creator and not the clan so proclaiming something to be the clan's is plain wrong.

You know whats great about wikipedia? It has a history so you can see who created it. It gives the IP 69.196.167.105, someone should go look it up and figure out who it is.

Ugh...I don't even know where to begin how pathetically stupid it is that you people continue to point out the most insignificant things and make a discussion about them.

Since the forum administrators can see everyone's IP address, the most expedient approach would be to get one of them worked up enough to care about identifying this mystery poster. ;)

Sadly, I must go outside every day.  It's terrible and bright, except when water falls from the sky.  The temperature changes wildly and uncontrollably, and there are people out there who insist on making eye contact.  I don't like the world outside.

The fact that we're joking about this instead of fingering the perpetrator says we really don't care enough to put much effort into finding whoever posted about us.  Why should we?  They couldn't even be bothered to write a full (non-stub) article!

Uh.... back on-topic, I updated the Valhalla Legends topic so it is hopefully more accurate and factual.  I removed the {{notability}} template and added it to the Requests for Move list to be moved to [[Valhalla Legends]] instead of where it is now, [[Valhalla legends]] (apparently some people don't know what a proper noun is).  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Valhalla_legends

I also updated the BNLS article with information about RCRS, BNCSUtil and MBNCSUtil as "related products".  I also modified slightly some wording about UserLoser that was somewhat gratuitous.  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BNLS

Alright, You caught the tater! I made wikipedia vl entries - I'm sorry. Im just so happy to be the only non-programmer in vl, and Im so glad, and happy for my fellow vlers, I just had to let it be known....  I dont know where I'd be without vl they have been there for me through the goodtimes and the bad, even when I was in prison they had a fundraiser for me to get me off of death row. It brings a tear to my eye.

Does anyone know anything about whether wikipedia has a screening process, and if so how efficient it is and what they do? I know they have bots that do spell-checking and other useful things (I'm not sure whether these clients are official or unofficial, I'd assume some are legitimate and not emulation), but I don't know whether they put all edits into a queue and check them with various programs before putting them on the site, etc., and whether there is a human team that moderates the site and is notified of all new edits.

The biggest problem would be "verifiability".  It seems to me that anything members would contribute would be more related to "original research."  Maybe we should write to Wikisource.  :P

We're a niche group certainly, but I find it rather offensive to state that we're not notable within that niche.

I think merging into Battle.net would be in error; if anything, BNLS would be more appropriate.

Why bother?  If they deleted us once, they'll likely not see the error of their ways when we recreate.  I find it amusing that the AfD page asserts that the sudden swell of support was mere sock puppetry.

I don't think that is allowed on wikipedia. At least, there are rules against people writing about themself and I'm sure groups fall into this category as well.

I think it was because people did it anonymously.

Since we'd all be "original source" content producers, I think we should put the article on Wikisource.  :P
