Around the time that you get pissed off enough to implement local hashing on your bot.

Na, more like when someone issues the command downloadfile and patchhashfiles.  Of course, I can do it but BNLS doesn't listen to me :P

Ya know that's not to bad of an idea! Why doesn't someone create a packet where vL members (or trusted friends) are allowed to update a product simply by sending a version byte update packet?

That's not how BNLS works, anyway.  BNLS takes commands from trusted sources to download and apply a patch from Battle.net.

One already exists, see this message (http://bnetdocs.valhallalegends.com/content.php?Section=m&Code=370).

For those wanting an explanation of why nobody has updated it, read the following:
The person who I was in contact last night said the only time available to update BNLS will most likely be this upcoming Friday.  The reason why is because of the newer MPQ formats.  BNLS may crash from them and that would only create a mess.  So he needs a day where he knows he has time to fix it and deal with it just incase something of that nature happens (like the last time D2 updated it was getting some filesize mismatch error).

When you wait for it to be updated, use hashes. Its not hard.. Get the 3 current SC hashes (Battle.snp, storm.dll, starcraft.exe). Go to your SB Folder and create 'STAR' and 'SEXP'. Place those 3 files in both of them folders. Then go to your SB, Settings -> Advanced -> Choose Local Hashing. I think its "Settings -> Advanced". I'm going by the top of my head.. Please correct me if im wrong.

That's a very good point. One I wish I knew the answer to. In another thread, Spht mentioned how BNLS is updated on its own, all it needs is someone to give it to correct patch to download. This just makes me think even more as to why it takes as long as it does to download. I think someone mentioned how the Starcraft MPQ formats were changed, but I don't know much about this in detail. Does anyone else?

Given that these games were never that great to begin with, and suffered a number of serious deficiencies in the chat interface, I fail to see how this is a problem. :)  You shouldn't be logging on as War3.  Among other things, doing so implies that you actually wasted money on it.

I'd have to disagree. Blizzard prompts you to purchase a product of theirs to access Battle.net. BNLS does not ask you to purchase anything.

No you dont hes refering to your local Host file.
Can be found in c:\Windows\System32\Drivers\etc\
you can open it in notepad. It's a file that overides DNS resolution. I would advise against doing this. Many people mess it up and end up sjut gettign annoyed.

Interesting: BNLS is hosted by Yoni and Skywing of Valhalla Legends. The address to connect to BNLS is also at Valhalla Legends. The vL site is down. BNetDocs site is also down. BNLS is also down.

Perhaps the "maintence" Arta/Kp referred to is much more extensive than originally thought to be?

In any case, to answer your question Warzone-- BNLS will be back up when it's back up-- until then just either use an alternative BNLS server, or just use local hashing. I'm assuming the bot you're using is a Flawed, and I'm also assuming you're using an old version that *supposedly* isn't backdoored.

In that case, the only thing I can tell you is to essentially either switch to another bot, because as per Yoni and Skywing's track record, the server will be updated when it's updated-- if it's not anytime soon, then so be it.

Suggestion: PM either Yoni or Skywing. Although I doubt a response will be forthcoming.

So... Switch to another bot that either allows using a different BNLS server, or allows usage of local hashing?  ;)

BNLS will be updated as soon as someone wants to update it, no sooner, perhaps later.

FAQ Time!

Why isn't BNLS updated yet?
Because nobody feels like wasting using their time updating it. They'll get arround to it eventually.

WarCraft III doesn't work with BNLS!! p1z f1xx0r
Reverse it yourself please. You might just be able to find out half of what does work. =)

Where is the source code for the hosts file changer?
Open regedit and change EXE files to point to Winamp, and it'll be on your desktop. No joke.

Why is BNLS down?
Because BNLS is currently what we all know to be the logical inverse of up. Man, that was a stupid answer. =(.

For LoRd: Why are you using BNLS in the first place?
Because its easy to use and requires absolutely no setup (on your part).

Are there any alternate servers?
For CSB, only if your a 1337h3x0r (yes, hex). If the former is true, or you use a bot with a customizable server, use hdx.no-ip.org.

plz make this wrk
Welcome to the vL forums. For your sanity and mine, spell out your damn words (<3 everyone). On a side note, you should write a bot. I admit to failing plenty an attempt, not to lack of skill, but to lack of detication. Writing a Battle.net chatbot is a lot of hard work (CSB is cheating) and not just everyone can do it. Just writing a client is difficult, try writing a remote hashing server. A remote hashing server that automatically can update itself. Yeah, good luck. =)

Can I host a BNLS server?
Look into JBLS.

Anything else?

Note: Please don't ban me for that. I just had to vent a little steam. =p
