That story was big a couple days ago, but it seems pretty stupid.  I just assumed it was common sense -- if you wear tight shorts, or spend a lot of time in the heat, then you'll naturally be less fertile.  It seems stupid that a "new study" "discovered" that by heating yourself up WITH A LAPTOP can ALSO make you infertile!  Next they'll be like, "If you lean against the stove a lot, you'll ALSO be infertile! Give us more research grants!"

The reason your testicles are out of your body and not inside (like, bottom stomach?) is because it can't be in such hot places. Your body's temperature is around 35 degrees celsius. So God put our balls outside of our body, open to the cool breeze of air. And then we invented pants.
Thanks everyone, my name is Netcooler. That was your biology tip of the day. Have a nice day.

Meh

I was told if you wear Y fronts then you are more likely to have a son as a child instead of if you wore boxers. Its to do with the heat or something.

Girl and boy spermlings (hehe) have the same chance of getting born to my knowledge.

I don't think so. I always have more girls in my class! ;)

But seriously, people are able to pick their childs gender now (Gattaca style births not so far away?) so something like that must apply. I'm not sure how it's done, somebody here probably knows.

Does that mean there is more of one kind? Since the probability of girls and boys being born aren't equal...

Falcon[anti-yL]

How aren't the chances not half and half? Punnet square would show 50% chance anyway.

Just because more of one race is born doesn't mean that they have a better chance. For example, You could flip a coin. It has an equal chance of going to heads as it does tails, but if you do it a couple of times you most likely won't get 50/50 results.

Yea I was talking about 50% chances, not the actual percentage in the world.

Adron

But the actual chances aren't 50%. And the percentages for flipping a coin will approach 50% if you do it infinitely many times, but the percentages for boy/girl child doesn't.

There just is not an equal chance between boys and girls.

Blaze

What makes the chances higher for girls or boys? Does the heat kill one and not the other? Is there a reason behind this? There are more boys then girls in my school but not by much.  What other logical factors could lead to having more boys in my area? *gets really intreaded in the topic*

So the the punnet square thing is a lie? How would you find the actual chances then?

I have absolutely no idea what a punnet square is.
