Unless you're doing some kind of web display thing, I'd strongly recommend that you process the icons.bni TGAs instead of using fixed icons.

how does icons.bni work? see that's the prob, im not too sure. if you could explain to me how to use it then i would use it. so help me out?

You can get info on the Targa format at http://www.wotsit.org/, along with almost any other format you're looking for info about.
