Alright everytime I am in like say, Corel Word Perfect or any word program that requires saving and opening a file my computer will make wierd drilling noises. Like when I go to open something, the application will pop up then my computer will make a drilling noise and freaze for like 2 seconds. Its wierd because it never started doing this untill I used my floppy drive. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I would suggest backing up ASAP and replacing your hard drive.

You've just located global warming.

It sounds like there's something wrong with the floppy drive, actually.

Sounds like he has a virus.

If this happens when you save files, something has hooked the file system notifications so it can spread itself on arrival of every appropriate new file.  This virus would then search drives to find more damage to do, activating the floppy like iago said.

So a virus + a bad floppy? :)

If a disk is left in the floppy drive, doesn't windows automatically read it to find the name of it ever time you open a FileChooser?

Hmm, I have scanned several times with norton. But I dont see how it could be a virus. Like before I had the internet installed on this computer when I first got it for Christmas, it was doing this same thing. So I havent like touched my floppy drive very often. So would it best be to get a new floppy drive?

Haha, Nortan -.- Try McAfee

MrRaza

Maybe this specific virus hasnt been reported yet? And I perfer Norton AV over McAfee.

Eww @ McAfee, I used both Norton and McAfee Internet Security 2003, and Norton outperformed McAfee at everything.
