Have any of you ever thought of how this works?  I remember some software for my old scanner had it and it wasn't very good, but that was about 5 years ago.  Somethings had to have come along.

OCR engines are excellent now.  What type of application do you need it for?

i really don't need it, but i'd like to understand how they did it, just to broaden my mind.
