Want a dedicated server?

For anyone who's interested, I am going to be leasing a dedicated server.  I intend to use it for basic hosting of my own stuff, however, that means that most of its resources will be going to waste.  What I'm looking for is an individual or a few individuals who have some sort of idea how to get it to pay for itself.  I'm going to put up the money for a year or two after which I'd like it to pay for itself.  I don't much care what you (as an applicant) want to do with the server, as long as it's legal.  Whether it's some sort of project, offering hosting, whatever, it doesn't matter to me as long as you think you can make it profitable.

And in case I haven't made it clear, the person/people selected to try it out will have full access to the server and all of its resources.

If anyone's interested in taking me up on this offer, you can contact me on AIM at Teh User or via private message here.

I'm replying instead of editing because no one needs to see ads for she-male porn...  I hope.

I've had someone come to me with questions about the server, so I thought I'd let everyone see the responses:

QuoteWhat are the server's specifications?
I'm undecided on the specs, but it will be at least 2 GHz with at least 1 GB of RAM and 300 GB HD space.

QuoteWhere is the server located?
In the United States.

QuoteWhat connection is it on?
100mbit redundant to Cogent, Level3 Abovenet, and Telia.  Note: I actually told someone wrong.  The second provider is not Level3, it's Abovenet.  My mistake, sorry.

QuoteWhat operating system will the server have?
It can be Windows Server, FreeBSD, Slackware, or Fedora Core.

how much bandwidth? and what are you paying per month / yearly? and how is the uptime on the server and how many ip addresses can be used?
Also how are the protection against ddos attacks and what is able to be added to this server purely anything? Does it have limitations. IE: No irc , No porn. What type of tos comes with it?

Heh heh heh heh heh.
QuoteEvery generation of humans believed it had all the answers it needed, except for a few mysteries they assumed would be solved at any moment. And they all believed their ancestors were simplistic and deluded. What are the odds that you are the first generation of humans who will understand reality?

After 3 years, it's on the horizon.  The new JinxBot, and BN#, the managed Battle.net Client library.

It's unmetered.  That is to say, no bandwidth limits.  I'll be paying around $300/month for it.  The uptime is unmeasured, and IPs are unlimited provided their use can be justified.  IRC and adult content are acceptable, but nothing illegal (i.e. warez, child pornography, spam).

I suspect that people are misunderstanding what I'm doing here.  I'm not looking for people to share the costs of the server with me.  I am looking for someone who has some sort of idea for a business or project that they would like to run, but never had a server from which to launch it.  I'm basically offering that server, free of charge for a year or so, while they get established.  After that time, I'd expect them to be making enough to cover the cost of the server themselves.  Think of it as an investment into someone's business idea.

How much is the cost of the server?
Grif: Yeah, and the people in the red states are mad because the people in the blue states are mean to them and want them to pay money for roads and schools instead of cool things like NASCAR and shotguns.  Also, there's something about ketchup in there.

well from my experience if you get some good content and put up banners they pay pretty well i myself make about 600 off my banners off my website alone and i do nothing anymore updating that website. Just from the pictures alone i make the money when people see pictures they click the advertisement and sign up +.50 cents per signup. you could also do torrent files website but its risky lately due to them cutting alot of websites.

Dude... you need to work on your site just a bit more. Try visiting it at 1280x1024 resolution. the title's all screwed up.
