I was playing Warcraft III and I noticed something smelled strange, kind of like a smoke smell. I went down to smell my computer and it smelled like it was coming from there. So I turned my computer off immediately and opened up the case of the computer. It all looked fine, except for alot of dust. So I cleaned all the dust out, put the box back together and went to turn on the computer to see if it turned on again. Sadly, it did nothing when I hit the on button. Does absolutely nothing.

Was wondering if you guys had anything to say on why it doesn't, or if it can be fixed.

I guess first things first - check your power supply. The smell indicated to me either an overheated video card (should still boot up, though) or overheated something else. I guess just hope it isn't your motherboard.

"Suddenly, the power supply burst into flame!"

Had that happen to me, lol.

You should have specifically identified where the smoke was coming from. More than likely, your PSU. Hope you've got a warranty!

I didn't see any smoke at all really. It just smelt like it. The inside of the computer looked fine. There was just aton of dust everywhere in it. But I mean when I click the on button, it just complety stays off, it does not 1 thing.

From what we've discussed, i'm 99% sure it's the powersupply.
This'll make an interesting test for broken AV:

Yes. I'm pretty sure it is. I'm going to check it when I get home.

Except you were on IRC at the time, not a video-intensive game. ^_^. That was so cool!

<towelie> Shit guys, Newby's computer just blew up.
* Newby has disconnected.
