Why is right-side mirror shorter than left?!?!?!

So...
I was driving around in several cars in my life... and I've noticed that a small part of them had a shorter right-side mirror than left-side. WHY IS THAT?! (mostly in Volkswagens...)

On another note... how about opening a driving forum? Forum for cars & driving... Like when one of you drives and has a stupid incident regarding a female driver... That and misc. stuff about driving.
