Because I wan't to learn, and meet the people. I made an effort to talk to Yoni today, however it must have been night time in Isreal because his away message said he was sleeping. See, I learned something without even joining. If you want to get a hold of someone in Isreal, do it during the morning in the US. =).

I don't remember that being a rule.  I prefer seeing people put it out publicly with the possibility of getting humiliated.

Hey all, whats the guidelines to do a trial, for [vl]? Like to become a member.

I love to help people and find out new interesting things.
I have been on battle.net for 5 years so I know a fare bit about things on there.
I am pretty decent when it comes to graphics, I can design web pages to.
I am currently learning how to program, so when I know how to Ill be able to help people with there questions hopefully.
I can load bots and keep them on 24/7 (if my mom doesnt mind, because of the electric bill lol!)
UMmmm I have creative ideas when it comes to designing things such as logos, web pages, programs( but then again I can't program yet so I just give people some good ideas)
Now for me to be able to join Clan [VL], would be an honor and an accomplishment of great ordeal. Smiley
Well thats all I have to say so I will just hope for the best.

I used to ask candidates for membership to answer this question, just to get the interview started ---

"If you had to take a comprehensive test in one subject (relatively narrow subject and related to computers), and score better than 99% of everyone else on battle.net to save your life (you would die if 2% scored higher than you), what subject would that be?"

So essentially we're looking to see where you have ALREADY EXCELLED OR ACCOMPLISHED to the 99th percentile among the battle.net population.

Granted, that's not too difficult a thing to do, but it requires you really know your subject area.  A good mix of both general and some specific expertise tends to work out well for examinees.

I believe there are other clans created to promote learning programming and becoming good or better, however that clan is not Valhalla Legends.  This clan is to honor and serve people who have already separated and distinguished themselves from the 99%.

If you still believe yourself to be ready, pick two leaders and go for it.

I can't really tell if you're serious or not.  I just wanted to point out that 2 x 0 = 0, and so saying that someone has twice your knowledge when your knowledge is null is not really a compliment, but more of an insult.

Joe, in my opinion, it's not really worth it. I mean, I'm not sure why you want to join except to say "I'm in vL." I don't mean that in a bad way, most people are that way. Back when I wanted to join that was one of my reasons; it's like joining a Varsity team sort of. But then, after waiting two years for the right time to attempt to join, I finally realized that there is no point. By that time I had become friends or at least acquaintances with several members, I was a regular on the forum, I was friendlisted in the channel, I wouldl play games with members, I was a regular in the channel, and I would frequently talk to the members either in the channel or via IM. Now, think about if I had joined the clan, I'd be doing all the same stuff in addition to four things, 1) name recognition, 2) banning people in the channel (), and 3) reading the private forums and 4) having everyone suck up to you. In my opinion none of those are good reasons to join a clan, you can have the benefits of a clan/guild/brotherhood to a lesser extent by just participating in the public aspects of the clan (channel, forums). The whole point of vL was so that like-minded people could associate and be free from the plague of normal bnetopians. You can still acheive this without bearing a certain name.

Once I realized this, I didn't care whether I had joined or not. Since I had had a few members say that I should attempt to join, I sent a PM to Grok several months ago. I wasn't accepted, but it didn't bother me because I realized these things and that joining now is more like a publicity stunt,  or an arrogant act showing that you're better than the countless people that didn't get in. I think the original goals of the clan have been acheived and now with the forums everybody is free to share them.
