Remember to hang your flag with pride. Also take a moment of silence. Hang that flag.

Today isn't Veteran's Day, nor is it Memorial day or Fourth of July.

My calendar doesn't say today is flag day...is there any significance of this day?

No, I was just wondering.  Usually something like 'han your flag' is said, mor often then not, one a special day.

I don't see how flag --> freedom, either here or in the united states.  Although I could see hanging a flag to show you're patriotic, and patriotism doesn't really imply freedom.  Nearly the opposite, in fact.

If patriotism was forced, then yes, it would be the opposite of freedom.

The flag is more than just a pattern of stars and stripes. You can interpret its meaning to you, to a degree; however, it's pretty obvious that it at least represents the trials and tribulations our nation has endured to get us where we are today. To me it represents a sense of freedom. When I salute our flag I am paying tribute to the fact that we are one of the freest and most prosperous nations in the world (sounds Orwellian, but the statement is still true).

You can't force patriotism... showing a flag is superficial.
