is there a way that I can have my new messages downloaded to multiple locations?

I have my Thunderbird client (on windows & fedora) set to download new messages.  I also currently check email sometimes with my PDA.  What I'd like to be able to do is to check ALL mail on all 3 clients.

Currently, once I check the mail it is marked as checked (or something) on the gmail server so it won't be sent out when I request login again.  I want to be able to have a message sent to my gmail account and be able to recieve it on XP, Fedora, & my PPC.  Any suggestions on how to do this?

I've wanted to do this too, so I just used the Gmail web interface...

Tell your POP3 client to not delete the message from the POP3 server.

That's from Outlook 2003 account properties, advanced options.  There is something similar in Outlook Express; I would be surprised if there wasn't something like it on Thunderbird.  I know for sure the Microsoft PDA E-mail client also has this option.

Can you remark them as unread on thunderbird and then check them on PDA?

I assume you are using POP3, which you'll have to research to see if the features allow leaving fetched messages as unread.

Click for POP3 protocol specification.

Of particular note:

8. Scaling and Operational Considerations

Since some of the optional features described above were added to the
POP3 protocol, experience has accumulated in using them in large-
scale commercial post office operations where most of the users are
unrelated to each other.  In these situations and others, users and
vendors of POP3 clients have discovered that the combination of using
the UIDL command and not issuing the DELE command can provide a weak
version of the "maildrop as semi-permanent repository" functionality
normally associated with IMAP.  Of course the other capabilities of

IMAP, such as polling an existing connection for newly arrived
messages and supporting multiple folders on the server, are not
   present in POP3.

QuotePlease note, Gmail doesn't support 'leave on server' configurations or configurations that download the first portion of a message only. Because of this, it can take a long time and use up a lot of storage to retrieve your Gmail messages via POP.
