The first amendment to the United States Constitution says:

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances."

What do you think the last part means?  How important is it that you can get the government to answer your questions?  I think you'll be surprised what the government has to say about it, and what the courts have said about it as recently as last month.
