I think VLC has some streaming capabilities, but I'm not sure how extensive they are.

I see Verizon has this new internet service called FiOS.  Has anyone tried it yet?  I heard it sucks.

Then again I dislike Verizon for reasons that are unknown, or possibly used to know but have forgotten them.

I hate working with SafeBoot Tech support... *Random*
I have it, all I have to say is.. it's a no-brainer.. fiber optics straight to your house, duh?

Anyway here is the major benefits:
Symmetric speeds (i.e. 20mbps up & down).. and you always get these speeds... Oh, and no bandwidth caps or throttling.
Uncompressed HD/SD picture everyone else recompresses the signal and lowers the resolution, FiOS doesn't do that because they have the bandwidth to pass the signal as is. Oh, and 100+ HD channels doesn't hurt either.

Anyway why don't you like Verizon? They're literally the only telecom company that actually puts thought in investing in their infrastructure.. i.e. going to LTE for 4G wireless technology as well as having the largest footprint in the US (LTE will allow Verizon to be GSM compatible thus allowing its users to roam around the world). And of course there is FiOS which is fiber to the home, no other major telecom is doing this.

Well I'll tell you what, I have a serious amount of stars ready to give and I know a way to get you in the clan! Unfortunately, I have to get money to unlock this, so once you send me the money I will unlock these stars and secrets to you! I'll also need a plane ticket to Nigeria...

A million isn't much these days =\

I'll take 30 gold bars and a couple sexy babes.  Thanks
I could think of tons of things that I could do with a million.. most of which aren't at all exciting (mostly how many bus passes I could not worry about finding cash for, or finally get some much needed work done on my car, and have cash to purchase a new one once it dies..) You could even buy a decent house these days for that kind of cash!

I'm currently in school working either towards an Urban & City Planning or Civil Engineering (specialized in transportation), I haven't decided yet. I also do transit advocacy with a group called the transit coalition here in Los Angeles, we go to meetings with politicians and work towards the big picture. For money I do IT work for my girlfriends step-dad.

Eventually I'd like to run a large transit system :)

The one thing I'd change is at your xbox/desk pc just have a switch there instead of using WiFi.

So -- Cable company -> Modem -> Wired router -> Switch -> Common Area Switch -> Xbox/PC

I do that when I have multiple devices in one area to avoid multiple cable runs or using WiFi for devices that can be hardwired. Also I use CAT6 instead of CAT5 so that I can transfer files quickly throughout the network.

Also on my network I installed FreeBSD on my older computer so that I could use it as a router, the advantage here is that it's very versatile, powerful, stable, and I can still use an otherwise useless PC.

I've never tried it, but I remember my girlfriend mentioning that if you hang clothes in the bathrom while you shower the steam will take out any wrinkles as if it were ironed.

It's $0.66/gal in Utah..

Yeah, like I say the engine isn't the most powerful but realistically you never need to blast off into space, it's just a nice perk. Anyway a less powerful engine wastes less fuel in stop & go driving.

I did test drive the car last week and I have to say the acceleration isn't great but once you get going you do get fooled into thinking you're going slower than you really are.

A few days ago when I checked it was $4.49 at most places here and went all the way up to $4.79....

Hey Mystical, you may be interested in the car I'm looking at getting.. it doesn't run on gas or diesel, but CNG.. it's called the Civic GX and there are plenty of stations in our region and the southwest. Basically on average if you go to a fueling station it'll cost you $16 to fill up your tank, the range is only about 200 miles *but* you can do things like add an extra gas tank which is something I will be looking into after I get mine. Also there is a $4,000 Federal tax credit and a $3,000 California Air Resources Board rebate.

It has a small trunk, it's not going to blast you off into space but it's still pretty peppy.. and because CNG is very clean your oil will still look like honey after 10,000 miles.

Don't be jealous. :p
For the record I don't believe you either.

Anyway I'm working on trading in/selling my TL Type-S for a very different sort of car.. I'll post it up when I grab it which probably won't be for another few weeks.

Only MP3 players I've had are various versions of the iPod and they've been great, very simple to use and I never had to look at them to figure out what I was trying to do (good for in car use). I don't think those are programmable though, but the iPhone/iPod Touch have been hacked extensively and with the SDK coming out I'm sure you could whip something up. I find that my iPhone though is a totally awful MP3 player compared to the orignal iPod lines because you really need to be looking at the screen to accomplish anything.

Looks like this is really going to be one of the best games ever:

http://ps3.ign.com/articles/869/869541p1.html

Just hope Amazon.com ships it quick enough~ I was going to do "super-saver" shipping because I didn't think it'd matter that much to me, but I moved it up to normal shipping just because I didn't think I could wait until May 5th for it to ship! I want my crazy multiplayer glorified cops v. robbers now plz kthx.
