I am completely ignorant about hardware issues so I am asking for some input from those that know. After playing WoW last night, I realized that my video card sucks farts from dead Orc ass. I need more power! I'd like to keep my costs below $300.00.
Thanks
I use a radeon 9700, it should be well below $300 now, and does the job great.
www.ati.com
they've got all kinds of new cards coming out with the xX00 series. i bought and x800 pro (AGP)
for $400 and its a frickin monster. runs hl2 like its nothing.
If you want something cheaper http://www.newegg.com/app/viewproductdesc.asp?description=14-164-021&DEPA=1
is pretty good.
I use the ATI Radeon 9200 SE and its the shit, Though I am looking to upgrade after christams to a better and more later version though this one works great :)
Mm.. note that I've seen ATI drivers bluescreen lots while playing WoW. Surprisingly, my nvidia drivers have been stable in Wow (they're typically crashing lots in other games).

Indeed, a lot of nVidia cards are to blame for a lot of older games crashing. But recently, nVidia has been getting better... possibly game makers cooperating more with nVidia. Note that some recent games specifically advertise nVidia with "The Way It's Meant To Be Played" (logo ang everything)... with Unreal Tournament 2003 and 2004 coming immediately to my mind, among others.
As for ATI... well, I haven't had much experience with their recent cards.
Half life 2 works best with an ATI card also.

QuoteModel "ALL-IN-WONDER 9800 PRO"
:o
The "All-In-Wonder" model is basically the same as the regular 9800 Pro, except has more ports for people who are professional (or think they are). Same processor and performance though.
QuotePorts: Video In+CATV In+Video Out+DVI connector
Cable/Accessories: 2 Cables, AV-In Adapter, VGA via DVI Adapter, Remote Control, USB RF Receiver, 4 CD, Manual, Batteries
Nice that it is under $300 now. It used to be $350-400.

That was cold.
*strokes his All-In-Wonder*
I am going to buy the x600 pretty soon for agp 8x. It performs a bit better then the 9700pro according to data sheets and comparisons I have seen and it is a bit cheeper. I would o 6800/x800 if I wanted my bank account to be hemeriging money.
I thought the All-In-Wonders were different because they had TV tuner cards on them..?
I thought the "All-In-Wonders" were fancy names to make stupid people think they were better than others :-P

They do, and they come with a remote too.
