What happened was I go to third period (Mechanical Drawing with Mr. Hanlin) and
begin do my work which is to draw an isometric figure (boring stuff yea). So maybe round 20
minutes later he starts yelling at some students because they were talking loudly. A FULL
10 MINUTES After he finishes talking, I turn around to someone and ask them to stop talking
since I hate being yelled at by him since when he yells he generalizes it and calls us 9th graders,
etc.. Well he must have taken it as me mocking me and yells at me saying. "Nelson: SHUTUP!". I am surprised
and say "Uh, why did you tell me to shutup?". He then told me I was being argumentative and
began to write me up for disrespect. I just sat down and continued working. I am still mad though.
Around 10 minutes later he tells me "So nelson, what are you going to do while you're suspended?".
At this point I try to argue that I was not mocking him and he once again calls me argumentative
and tells me to leave. I ask for an escort by security since when I am mad sometimes I do crazy things
(Like walk out of school grounds -- done it before). He must have taken that as insubordination
and wrote me up for that too. Around 5 minutes later security arrives and escorts me to the disipline
office.

Now I am talking to the principle.
Now this principle is pretty much an asswipe. He won't let you make a statement to defend
yourself, he suspended me for one day. (On Monday).

Okay so today I go for my reinstatement and he demands I admit I was wrong and that I admit
to doing everything he wrote. I ofcourse denied anything he wrote and he got mad because I was
mounting an argument against the entire write up and proving him wrong. He said "You know what,
two more days okay?". My mom got mad at this point and asked him why he wouldn't listen to me.
So he told my mom that he assumed the teacher is always right and is not going to doubt the credibility
of a professional. My mom said some other stuff and we left. Both me and my mom pissed.

Now when I return to school I need to bring a letter (stating I was wrong etc..) which
I refuse to write. I will write how I am NOT wrong instead, see how he likes it. So yea
I'll probably face 2 more days of suspension on friday. Oh fucking well. Prick.

Enjoy.

Where do you live? Back in high school, I seriously argued my way out of those on the premise that if they are going to treat me like a kid, then surely, I'll act like one.  And if they choose to punish me like I'm a delinquent, then I'll act like one.  Not exactly the smartest thing to do, but that was my argument.

Uh...why?

I love having a mom that's friends (well, acquaintances) with the principal, the few times I've ever actually gotten in trouble in HS he's gotten me out of it. :)

----

My day:

I went to a college fair today, it was pretty fun. I had to go to most of first bell and take a quiz, then we left and I missed AP Bio. Then I came back to school and had study hall, which I go to the library for anyway so my friend and I just read our college stuff. Then I had AP Statistics, but my teacher's pregnant and wasn't there today...our long-term sub was, I guess she's not coming back until after Christmas now. Our assignment isn't due until next Wednesday (no school Tuesday, pep really Friday, class is every-other day) so I just talked all bell.

The fair was good, it was an hour long. All the public schools and then Norfolk Collegiate (which is where I would have gone had I not gotten into IB) was there. I wish I had gone to Collegiate, my my, all the girls were hot and, more importantly, well mannered. Today was Geek/Prep day at school (for Spirit Week) and I wore a tie. Everybody said that I look the same as I normally due, but oh well. I suppose all of the colleges thought I was from Collegiate thanks to my attire, which is fine by me as the public school kids were, of course, annoying. I've pretty muched narrowed my 4-year school choices down to Hampden-Sydney College or UVa. (Unless I get a full ride scholarship somewhere else or don't get into either of those. I want to stay in-state for my 4 year, unless I get full-ride somewhere else.) It was funny though, all the ghetto black kids who you could tell were just there to get out of class (seen because many of them were just standing around talking and being whack) were going to schools they had no shot at (that I had no shot at too, I walked right by them.) For example, Dartmouth, Pennslyvania and Princeton. :P

I'd prefer Hampden-Sydney now that I think about it, but it's way more expensive. However, 1 in 10 graduates become CEO or president of a business. Plus there's a lot of lawyers, bankers, politicians, etc. that've graduated from there. 90% of the students receive some sort of financial aid too. It's an all guys school, which is nice, since there's a few all-girls schools in the area too and at times there's as many girls as there is guys on campus. Plus, even Playboy rated guys schools the best place to get laid in HS. :P

I would like to play lacrosse in college too either D3 or at least club. No way in hell I'd make the Virginia team, one of the top teams...D1...no way.

Principal* But anyway, if they're going to enforce that type of policy, why not have a student protest?  As ridiculous as protesting may seem, the issue itself is present over here, too.  During my senior year of high school, we picked a time where the majority of the students were roaming (which was lunch time) and organized a sit-in.  Most kids would probably look at it as an opportunity to skip class, and if that's the case, at least make sure they know what it's all about, and make sure they don't act in an immature manner.  For the person(s) leading it, you just need to maintain a professional, adult-like demeanor, and be willing to negotiate.  Who knows?  Maybe you'll gather some publicity.  I know we did.

Charlie

Yeah, Last year we had a sit in and a walk out because the adults said that the students didn't care enough about our education to pass the levi. Well lets just say that it passed the next time. Sit ins and walk outs do work, even though deciplinary action also comes along with the measures, but what ever it takes to make things work ay?

Explicit

A walk-out happened at my high school for the passing of the levy, but then again, the students there are very arrogant, and the majority of them just saw it as an opportunity to skip class.  You can probably take a gander as to what happened next.  Regarding the disciplinary action, there's always a consequence to every action, and you have to take it upon yourself to make the call on whether or not it's worth it.

It doesn't change the fact that the suspension was unjust.

I maintained I wasn't at fault and argued my point until he got mad which is good enough for me. I countered everyone of his points and reversed them on him.

Both the teacher and principal sound unreasonable.  I would try and switch schools; in the process of switching you would probably meet many different principals, and get an idea of whether they seem like fair people or not.

CrAz3D

Last year in El Paso, Tx the student body staged a walk out to protest the changing over to a block schedule.  They got permission from their principal to walk out between 12 & 1 pm (I think).  After they were supposed to return, no one went back to class (or very few).  Eventually it escaladed into a small riotous event with students throwing rocks at police (which showed up to make sure it was a safe protest).  1 woman police officer was hit in the head & went to the hospital, then the police began to "brutally dispurse the mob".  W/E, the police just drug some kids away & tackled others cause they were throwing rocks & such...dumbass parents always wanting to sue cause their kids got arrested for being a moron.
