Digital Camera - Need Info

I am going to get a digital camera but sadly i dunno much about what to get and such. what i know is i want to be able to record movies and also take pictures along with a usb hookup. Someone showed me this link it looks pretty good but expensive

anyone have any suggestions? i don't want it to be cheap my guess is around $600 - $1000ish dollars

Firewire (IEEE 1394 or something like that) > USB, and firewire cards are pretty cheap
