My dog is going to dye soon too.  Hes blind in one eye, and 3/4 blind in the other.

Cancer?

My dog's retina's 'fell off' then 'reatached'...sounds weird
She is blind in her right eye & going in her left.
Has cancer growing on her tongue that is suppose to just spread to her throat & eventually her brain too.  We had the 1st bump removed from her tongue (HUGE bump:()...but if it comes back, which it already is, we're gonna just put her down ...this is gonna be pretty soon too I think
