All you could make in basic was shell programs, and you couldn't use sockets so no internet related things either.

If you were a really advanced user, IIRC, you could write a simple Socket class using raw data coming right from the modem.

BASIC wasn't a OO programming language.

BASIC doesn't stand for any Microsoft Roxorz thing. Its Beginners All Purpose Symbolic Instructional Code.
