This thread would have fit into "general" better..

Can't you just hax the mpq to do this...?

thats basically what he did, grabbed the image(s) from the mpq, edited them, and recompiled the mpq.. You can do this with alot of games, i found this thing called dragon unpacker or something, it has a list of all cab-like files, mpq's, etc. Very usefull, say you play a first person shooter, and you have a gun that uses a scope, you can edit that image so the blackness is gone, and you have a fully transparent image, seeing everything..

Some more images I modified:

Battle.net Chat Environment.

In-Game:

They are not done yet. I just... can't think of any better grafix :/

Spht

I never tried modifying the MPQ pictures before-hand, looks like it'd be pain to apply/deapply the images, having to recompile the MPQ every time.

I found it better to dynamically load pictures into memory on run, which also allows you to do things like changing position to where they're drawn or switching pictures through /commands while in chat.

OuTLawZGoSu

You dont have to recompile the entire mpq. Make a new mpq, put only the images you want changed, load mpq through mpqdraft.

Seems too complicated for me to make :/

Oh well.

I'll post some more pics soon.

In the bottom 3 pictures, what's different?
QuoteEvery generation of humans believed it had all the answers it needed, except for a few mysteries they assumed would be solved at any moment. And they all believed their ancestors were simplistic and deluded. What are the odds that you are the first generation of humans who will understand reality?

After 3 years, it's on the horizon.  The new JinxBot, and BN#, the managed Battle.net Client library.

Well look at Spht's picture of his in-game menu and such, he says he remade it so it doesn't take up so much space, and in Outlaws' pictures it's even smaller, so I'd assume he just took off the extra graphics that took up room on the screen.

It looks like in the Zerg screenshot there's some graphics missing and the Protoss one just looks ugly.

ah, it looks like he unrounded some corners and took away some of the transparencies.

OuTLawZGoSu

Thats exactly what I did.
If anyone wanna make a better background then mine, dont hesitate to post the pic here. I'm not so good at grfx thats why my panels look like shit.

I really like the organization that Spht's layout applies,  although I feel it takes away from the overall feel of being that race (protoss doesn't have circuits everywhere, zerg doesn't have organic matter everywhere).

[edit]And I'm not too fond of the red  :-\[/edit]

I don't experience feelings playing different races on Starcraft, but that sounds interesting. Since the race that you are when you begin tends to change throughout the game, panel uniqueness is faily unnecessary, which is why I eliminated that inaccuracy. And also because the fanciness of the default panels are distracting.
