ive been in op [vl] a few times under the account kitty, but i usually never leave the channel clan 2xx, all my friends are there and its fun talking to alot of the visitors we have

Just kidding.

I actually don't pop into Op [vL] all too often; most of the time, my interaction with you guys stems about here on the forums.  If there isn't very much activity in my clan channel, I'll jump around to see what's going on, and I discover that (usually) even less is going on in Op [vL].  I've had only a couple discussions with members in the channel; I find that it's more typically AIM by which I can communicate with you guys.

Regardless, I hang out and visit with you guys because I've found as I've gotten older, it's increasingly difficult to find people with whom to have an intelligent conversation.  Someone made the comment about how Bnet is increasingly populated by ten-year-olds -- nothing could be more to the truth.  Since you guys are generous enough to share your resources and knowledge, though, I try and be as helpful as I can on the forums with programming topics.  I enjoy this community very much, and I am more than happy to give back to it.

Those two things are not necessarily independent of each other.

I come to vL's forum to converse and learn.  I have never entered the channel Op vL.  I learned of vL from talking to bacca a long time ago.

I have never seen vL's channel taken over either, heard yes, seen no.  So I assume its atleast a decent place to hang out.

Taken over? I don't understand. How could it ever be taken over? It's a moderated channel. Only [vL] and those it designates can ever be an operator. Even massloading is only a minor annoyance, since most of the members who are generally online have advanced filtering features in the clients they use.

Even though i still get banned every time i go in there, i like the educational conversations, and being able to hold a conversation without somebody calling you a "newbie" etc. Most of vL think i am some sort of pest.. coughkpcough, but let it be what it is, i cannot change anybodys mind, all that matters IMO, is that at one point i was stupid and immature, and now i respect these people because of there accomplishments, obviously it isnt mutual. But hey, like i said, educational conversations, i love em.

I don't really go in the channel to much. I mostly sit in open tech support and help newbies with questions they could pretty much answer by looking at the bliz website. I knew a couple people from a few years ago, well talked to a few people DM and a couple of other people.
The main reason I've been coming to the forums is the lack of stupidity thats allowed here. If somebody chimes in with something annoying its usually turned in the other direction pretty quick.
Also if I have any computer related questions there are like 20+ people here that can answer it.
And the people DoS'n are probably just people seeing vL as a big trophy.

I moved to vL from OTS because I got totally sick of all the spam and idiots

This is a good reminder for everyone to try and not make a bad first impression. Because first impressions last....
