That was the closest character I could find. How is (-) spelled? I asked my math teacher and she didn't know. I was assuming 'Thata' but wasn't sure.

Theta perhaps? Not sure which character you're after...

It's Theta, eight letter of the greek alphabet, used to represent unknown angles.

Found this in my Favorites - a guide for writing Greek letters.
Greek letters are very often used in mathematics, which makes this a useful link here.
