Would anyone care to explain this to me please for a big exam i have.... Please?

Proportionality?

That would be that something (A) is X % bigger or smaller than something else (B). If you then know that a certain measure in A is 120, and the same measure in B is 50, you know that A is 120/50=2.4 => 140% bigger than B. If another measure in B is 12, you know that the corresponding measure in A is 12 + 140% = 12*2.4 = 28.8.

In this case, 2.4 would be referred to as the proportionality constant. You can write proportions as equalities by introducing the proportionality constant into the equation, eg. A = kB where k = 2.6
