You copy "My Documents" to an ftp server, or to a cd or a dvd.  Then you format.

if there really is one, then i would like to know how.  but, like i said before, i cant go into anything after the error......... so that means i cant go into drives or anything... Nothing.      AFTER ERROR IS PURE BLANK SCREEN

Maybe is there a SFC = SYSTEM FILE CHECKER for  Disket so, maybe i can fix this problem by the floppy, i Wouldnt know but i need help on this plz.....

My docs is about 5 GIGS -_- i dont think its gonna be that easy  to burn all that on a cd or couple of cd's, besides i cant get into any drives so its impossible for me to burn anything on that computer, and well....to copy them back, is gonna be a mess, comp crashes mojority of time when i'm copying something from the cd to c:\ and sometimes freezez.  I know there is a way to save you documents without having to burn anything to a cd, the thing is, i dont know how :P
Thnx

You can get an external harddrive an a linux boot disk.  Knoppix (www.google.com/search?q=knoppix) will let you boot into Kde, and from there you can copy the files onto an external drive or to another network computer or something.

Aye, and SuSE 9.1 will also let you boot into KDE.  SuSE 9.1.

Should totally get an external harddrive. I bought an 80GB Western Digital one this summer and my life has been easier. I have a 120gb internal harddrive and I've only used about fifty gigs of it , but I've used 75gigs of my external. I once lost some important stuff from human error while formatting, which is why I wanted one. Now, I can easily backup important documents and stuff and I keep all of my ripped music/movies/ebooks on my external so if I do need to backup, I'm not spending days burning it all. Highly recommended, ask for one for Christmas. :)

k thnx guys, i'll try to get anohter harddrive,  i got 2, c:\=20GIG, and D:\=5GIG and the D:\ is almost full so i guess i'll get another  one and format c:\ , btw is there a way i could get in on d:\ and fix this problem?
Thnx

Go down to your local Fry's electronics (or Best Buy or CompUSA or Radio Shack or whatever other local computer shop you want) and ask around for some help. I'm sure you'll find someone who'll be willing to help you, and it'll be a lot easier for you (even if you wind up with a fee) instead of trying to fix the problem yourself. It's especially useful if you don't know a whole lot about how to fix things. It'd be even more helpful if you won't have another computer to ask for help on if you encounter a problem while reformatting... but if that's the case, you wouldn't be able to start this thread here, would you?

Do you mean boot off it, or just read it?

If you intend to boot (run windows) off it, then yes, it most likely will.

If you plan on making it a slave drive, then it'll be ok, and you can copy your files off it.
