Since the dog slobbered all over it, at 4.9 s your pickup attempt fails and it slips away.... ;)

But it might not!!

And if you try picking it up, it seperates from the floor, then falls back, does the timer restart, or are the germs already ready?  And what if it slips and lants 2 feet away?  You can assume that the germs that were there had all run over to the original location, so the new place should be safe for at least 10 seconds!

From what I understand Dogs have one of the most, if not the most, cleanliest mouths on the planet. That is why it can be beneficial for your dog to lick your wounds (if you don't have access to medical supplies that is). I think it would have to depend on how slobbered the food is. He could have killed any present germs for you. :D

I see my dog lick her ass regularely.  That's enough.

That doesn't disprove anything I said, it just grosses you out.

hmm, my logic:

A: dogs lick their butt && dogs have poo on their butt = dogs have poo on their toungue

B: A && dogs use their tounge to lick your food =  dogs get poo on your food

C: I wouldn't eat poo && B = I wouldn't eat food licked by a dog.

therefore, if you would eat food licked by a dog, you would eat poo.

A: Dog poos

B: Plant absorbs poo

C: Animal eats plant

D: iago eats animal

Thus, iago eats dog poo?

Cows would be the prime example of this logic. iago eats poo!!! :P Although that wouldn't be dog poo... Either way I see no difference.

My mom used to have a garden, and she put cow poo on it to feed the plants. Obviously the plants absorbed the poo. :P

Either way the poop made contact with the plant, and eventually made contact with your mouth. I am assuming by using sublimation you mean the poop is purified? In that case I see no difference than the mouth of a dog. Like I said before a dog's mouth is able to rid wounds of bacteria. I am sure by licking its butt, it is just cleaning himself of the bacteria found in the poop. So I don't see the big deal about his slobber.

I am not saying I would eat anything that had slime dripping from it; I just don't think there is anything wrong with a little bit of dog saliva.

hmm, well, we wash plants before we eat them, so I guess that's what makes me feel better.

A dogs mouth has it's own washing, or self-purification system. So I guess that makes me happy. ;)
