i saw windows 2003 at an average of $160 - $500..  and then i saw the enterprise edition for $3,550!  is this correct?  seemed really odd to me..

I think you ask the dumbest questions, Look at microsoft's website.

Server and "enterprise" products = always super expensive (unless they're free).

DVX

well it surprised me as to how much more expensive it was..  anyways, what are some of the main differences in standard and enterprise?

If you wanted it for a real server, you'd either already know this or would check Microsoft's website.

Nobody buys Win2k3 for home use, that's a huge waste of money. If you want to buy Windows for home use, buy 2000 Pro or XP Pro (not XP Home, which is crap).

If you want Win2k3 for home use, do what everyone else who wants to use Win2k3 for home use does - pirate it. Then, it really doesn't matter what edition you pick, they're all the same for that purpose.

more or less the greatest increase in the enterprise edition is the fact you're paying for 25 user licenses in addition to extra features (which are mainly meant for high end servers).
- Hostile is sexy.

the reason i like win2k3 is that it has everything i want, additionally i've seen a rather big performance increasement and stability increasement with it than xp pro when i used it
