Need Help Lancraft-like program

hi,
people in my city uses to play warcraft through mirc, someone create a game then send his IP to people join his game but its risky, someone can take the IP and uses for some bad purpose....

So i decided to create a program that shows what game is created and when someone opens warcraft, the games created shows in a list on "Local Area Network"

- The language must be Visual Basic 6 (wich i have some knowledges)
- The program is a Mirc-like but with a window showing what games are created.
- Basic knowledge in TCP/IP protocol, binary and Hexadecimal
- Know how to capture packets with ethereal

All i just know is a walktrough, where i start, what protocols are needed from bnetdocs, i dont need a code to just copy-and-paste but appreciate some examples and directions in what to do.
