Open the status dialog of your LAN connection.  Click Properties.  Go back to the status dialog and select "Support", then "Details."  Go back to the properties page, and double-click on "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)".  Select "Use the following IP address" and enter an IP address on your brother's subnet.  Copy information from the Details page to the TCP/IP Properties page for DNS Servers and Default Gateways.
