I wasnt geting upset but it does annoy me when people suggest using something else, like the whole Windows - Linux thing. "My XP wont work", "Use Linux" is the comeback.

Sometimes, that's actually a good suggestion.  If Linux does work, it means there's a problem with the XP install.  If Linux doesn't work, then there's a hardware problem, which will afflict the original poster regardless of what OS is used.
