By a show of hands, I'd be curious to know how many people here are using Linux (or any *nix variant I'd be curious to know what distribution as well) -- and how many specifically have switched over to the newer 2.6 series of the Linux kernel. If you haven't already, I recommend you check the new kernel out (www.kernel.org) as there are many IO improvements and system scheduler changes, and various hardware fixes, etc... that one might find very helpful. On the other hand, if you have had bad experiences with 2.6, I'd like to know what was the problem. Thanks.

wut

using the gentoo 2.4.22-r2 kernel for now, tried out 2.6 when it was still in testing though (technically 2.5 :p)

Cool. I recommend you give 2.6 another try, as it has been very stable for me.
Linux main.noobie.org 2.6.0-test10-mm1 #1 SMP Sun Nov 30 16:21:35 EST 2003 i686 Pentium III (Katmai) GenuineIntel GNU/Linux
18:48:59 up 45 days, 49 min,  9 users,  load average: 1.08, 0.77, 0.55
Next time I upgrade my Kernel I think i'll give the 'love-sources' a try.
Btw, I forgot to say what distribution I run... Gentoo Linux.

A guy on my floor is all excited about upgrading.

In the process of trying to install gentoo 2.6 on my laptop, it's being an immense pain though.
