Since I just recently updated my graphics card, my computer has been suddenly shuting off for some reason and restarting. I will be in the middle of something and then it would restart. If anyone could help me fix this, that would be great.
Thanks for any advice.

Sounds like a heat problem.  In your BIOS, does it list your CPU temperature?  If it does, check it immediately after a restart, and see if it's high.  Or just post it here and ask if it's high.

It could also be poorly written drivers (think nVIDIA).  It might be worth checking the eventlog for bugcheck/save dump entries.

I think he uses an ATI graphics card. I guess it could be your drivers. When the computer shuts down or restarts, does it make any unusual noises?

After reading this post, I went and grabbed the drivers off the site, and so far it's working perfectly for me.

Umm, like the fan seams like its blowing alot of air out when it restarts, when my computer shuts down.

Is the card physically EXTREMELY hot to the touch? (Graphics cards can get pretty hot, but if it's searing there's a problem)

Check to make sure that the card is properly seated in its slot as well. This definitely sounds like an overheating problem.

Mine used to get extremely hot to the touch.  In fact, the back of it turned brown from being burnt, and the picture was always distorted.  After I noticed, I pulled it out and it's been fine since (sitting in a drawer)

I havent looked inside my case yet, trying to prevent myself from screwing it up. I havent had any problems with it this morning, I put all my games graphics adjustments to low.

Instead of asking us, or along with asking us, you should definitely contact your vidcard's manufacturer. I think their specialists should be able to help you out more effectively than we can. :)

I have an nvidea gforce 2 64 mb card, and i was having the same problems, howerver, it was also working with another large contribution, a small power supply. Since i had upgraded my ram to 640mbs ddr, i had to go buy a 400 watt atx power supply, and have never had a problem since.

Also, there are many many critical updates for drivers and other dependencies for nvidea
