There used to be a site that had the 404:
"As you're looking for a page, you stumble into the basement, where there's piles and piles of boxes.  Perhaps the page is in one of the boxes... do you with to open one of them?"
I forget which site said that, though..

noodlez.org had the best 404.. it was a flash animation that said something like
"well how the fuck did you get here? it started with a click, then click click click click, and now your here. but you sohuldnt be here! because it doesnt exist! so fuck off"
