Sony Walkman MP3 Player - podcasts?

I don't have an ipod, or any portable mp3 player, so I don't know what podcasts are or how they work. My dad wants something that can listen to podcasts, though. My mom got him this sony walkman mp3 player - does anyone know if this can listen to podcasts? Are they just mp3s?

Podcasts are just a specific genre of Music as far as id3 tags go. The difference in implementation is if the MP3 Player supports things like Bookmarking (For resuming paused podcasts at later times, and things like Podcast integration in the Software (Although iTunes offers free Podcast downloads))

Just make sure it plays real MP3s and not this bullshit ATRAC3 format that they kept trying to push during the first half of the 2000s.
