Microphone Problem

I have a sennhieser pc130..
My mobos maker is Asus
Software : SoundMax
Codecs : ac97

My software doesnt seem to suport mics i dont see any options for a microphone.  Yes i have it plugged in correctly!, not muted, tested the hardware from directxdiag & from control panel, i have directx9.0c i checked the mobo physical condition all i see is a box. no open slots or anything or open wires.. nothing broken some help is required please and thanks

AC97 drivers can be shoddy. Pick up a fresh set from your motherboard manufacturer.

i dont understand what you mean please evaluate. and theres no way to download the codec i contacted the site. :?
