Thanks, I made it in Maxons Cinema 4D...took a while too. Then I just did some lighting in PS. Then I named it after me for some reason.

Made these last night, adding them to my portfolio as I type this. I really like them. I'm not going to put the title on my works anymore, I'm just gunna' make a big white border around them etc...What do you guys think of it?

They look interesting.

Do you plan out on paper what you're going to paint first, then spend hours doing it?  Or do you slap some random colors on a digital image sheet then apply random filters?

Just curious.

Yes, I do.

I am fairly sure he just runs a bunch of filters.
Title: Re: Official Art Thread
Post by: Mitosis on October 15, 2004, 10:07 PM
When I am doing my abstract works I do plan out the look I am going for, like if I want a liquidy effect then I use whatever options I have to do that. Yes for my liquid one up there I used the chrome filter and a lot of the charcoal ones. Copied and made new layers, adding lighting and other filters. For the second one, I used some brushes and filters too.

He uses the "trial and error" technique, try a filter if it looks good keep it.

Akamas what's your problem? You're the one who told me to use, "as many filters as you can, Photoshop has tons!", so thats what I am doing. Oh and by the way, I seen some of "your" work on other sites but created by someone else....

That's strange. It shows up fine here. First you get an information text, then you click to start, and use up arrow to zoom in the details of the image.

Yeah, isn't it? Mitosis should be making those kind of images, not the plain simple ones he's doing now ;)

Art is a personal expression of the artist, not "What Adron thinks looks good".

On another note, I'm learning to do 3D rendering and animation, so I modeled and animated this thing.  The camera work was not very good, but otherwise, I thought it turned out ok.

Thats true, but what he's doing seems like he isn't expressing anything just a collection of random effects and filters. Unless he's actually trying to express something, if so what would that be, mitosis?

Btw, your hour glass looks pretty good.

It's just a bunch of images then in flash they made it zoomable. Ya those images would be time hard to color them in and all, but the flash shouldn't be too difficult.

I made this image to just play around with materials, basically.  For any serious 3D artist, it's a joke, but I ended up liking it.  The whole scene consists of 5 objects: the two cubes, the text, a light to test the materials, and a camera to get that cool point of view.

I think that's due to the index of refraction.  The one I used is closer to glass than whatever it should be.
