For anyone living under a rock in the half-life world, counter-strike:source is counter-strike 1.6 ported to the source engine.
will have all the features that half-life 2 will, graphical and the physics.
the beta is on right now for cyber-cafe's, but will pre-load for ATI-vouchers and Condition Zero owners on the 16th, and will be playable on the 18th. Half-life 2 will also pre-load on the 17th (textures and other such things that won't be changed).

Basically, for a while, there was a built in wallhack, a bug that let a player turn on a an annoying orange box for all players, and another bug that let any player shake everyone's screens.
yeah, it was hard to get used to though.
they still have ALOT of optimization to do for the source engine, as far as performance. people with 9800XT's are talking on the steam forums about getting -horrible- fps. though i seem to get a steady 30 - 85 with my computer, and it's decent. though i only have a radeon 9600. :P

cs:s has no hack protection whatsoever. there's no wallhack protection. there's no speedhack protection.
I have Condition Zero and I dont really like it I perfer CS
