Title: Mozilla FireFox or Mozilla 1.7?
Post by: deadly7 on July 31, 2004, 06:44 PM
Which one? I use firefox right now and love it, but I do design webpages and stuff and Mozilla 1.7 has that built in... with the same features as firefox, plus:

IRC chat client.
HTML/webpage editor.

Get them both, and use whichever one suits you at the time. :)

I use Firefox cause I don't need anything other than a browser. But yea you should try both and see which one you like better.

I tried both and Firefox is infinitely better. When Firefox is done, it will become part of the Mozilla package, you know.

Opera!

Agreed. Reminds me, I should probably update Opera one of these days.

If you have the old one with the big toolbar and blue buttons as the default skin, upgrade. New version kicks ass.

I have opera, but I am not to fond of its downloads menu and its layout. I prefer firefox.

I've used Opera for awhile but since it doesn't support Gmail I switched back to Firefox

Gah, I go away and forget about this thread and it suddenly turns into an opera discussion.. bleh.

@Stealth: K, will do... I've heard Mozilla 1.7 has website coding features, and I [unlike some people ;)] code my sites...

Opera!

I use Opera, but it doesn't support ActiveX and therefore gmail, so I use firefox to check my mail.

ActiveX and therefore gmail? gmail doesn't use ActiveX, that's horrible. And the only browser that supports ActiveX is IE (and IE shells like Avant of course).

Gmail requires ActiveX controls to be enabled

Your browser seems to be Internet Explorer, and ActiveX seems to be disabled. Gmail requires ActiveX to be enabled in order to operate.

To use Gmail, enable ActiveX controls in Internet Explorer. You can do this by going to the Tools menu, selecting Internet Options, Security tab, Internet zone, and either select the Default Level, or selecting Custom Level and scrolling down to "Run ActiveX controls and plug-ins" and selecting Enable.

After enabling ActiveX controls, try again.

Ewwww...

Well, it works on Firefox, so apparently it's browser-based. (ActiveX in use for IE only or something.)

Yes, it uses Microsoft's XMLHTTP ActiveX object for IE and the XMLHttpRequest object for Firefox.
