Continuing watching the news apparantly a missle or some kind of projectile explosive was launched near where Saddam's statue use to be. Several casualties, yet the Iraqi police force was handling the situation by themselves with no U.S.A. aide, and according to the news crew were doing a great job.
It'll take time for Iraq to be able to stand on its own two feet, but it'll happen.
Look even if we never find a single shell containing WMD (well we already found some shells with sarin on militants, they had to come from somewhere), WMD was just used to rally the population behind the war, which was a political mistake I think. But this was was very much neccessary for other reasons, Saddam was paying off the families of suicide bombers over in Israel, Saddam was in breach of our seice fire, was toying with us shooting at our planes over the no fly zone, and then was not complying with the un weapons inspecters. We know he was in breach of some of their stuff too, remember the al sammoud (sp?) II missiles? He also launched I think it was 3 skuds at our forces (that did not hit, big supprise) when we were first crossing his border from Kuwait. Saddam was messing around with us and he needed to be removed, clinton was even trying to get rid of the guy, he was trying to equip insurgents over there during his administration, so its not like we have not been on Saddam's case for years, war is and was used as a final resort. The reason why we did not go to war under clinton is because he did not have 1 more scandal, and war was too much of a 'republican' initiative because of Bush #1.
