eww, I've been working all through my student life so I won't end up in debt. It's much nicer not worrying about bills.

Get to? What kind of screwed up community do you live in where a single test determines whether you "get to" go to college? If you failed the friggin thing you'd still get to go. You might have to start at a community college, but you're always guaranteed acceptance.
Maybe he lives in France.
Edit: Actually, iirc, even there you can still go if you fail the test; the government just won't give you a free ride.
I'd still get to go, but the score on the test determines the level of class they'd start me out with, ie a failed test I'd be sent to a class that teaches you the mastermind behind the mouse, and how to operate your computer monitor. Yes, I do get some type of financial aide for a good test result, I'm the first one in my area to even attempt it (since I live in hicksville) so I felt like this was a good random life scenario.
