I got a new comp with a " hp dvd writer / cd-writer combo ".
I got a program called Record Now! that came with the computer.
Heres the problem.
When ever I try to make a "Data Disk", I get an error.
When I try to copy a Music cd, It sais that it's completed the write successfuly, but when i try to open the cd, it sais that there is no cd in the cdrom drive.
The cd I use is " maxell CD-R ". I've tryed CD-R and CD-RW. none work. Do I need a DVD Re-writable cd?
The computer if a Howlete Packard, Windows Xp Media Edition.
I dont know if it's the hardware of software. If anyone got ANY info, please let me know.

That's your problem, getting those cheap rip-off brands with similar names. ::)

Well, i didnt pick it out, my dad did. But it's not cheap. It got 160 gig HD (7200 rpm, not sure what that is ) , Pentium4 3.00 GHz. 512MB DDR. 1 dvdr+ rom drive, cdrom drive.
But the werdest thing is, the letters on the cpu is in small letters. Looks kinda weird.
It's decent for a Howlete packard.
Do you mean Hewlett Packard?
Id never go for a pre-built computer. I either build it my-self or have it custom built from a local PC shop.
You need to learn how to spell.
Anyhow! Have you tried looking on this "Record Now!"'s website?
Maybe your recorder is broken. You could also try recording at a lower speed, and enabling verification.
I suggest using the latest version of nero, because it kicks ass. And remember to buy it because:

That fact that you used a quite for 6 month ago scares me :)
Aight, I just found a DVD+R that came wit my comp. I put about 10 megs on it. It worked!
I guess Ican only use either dvdRWs or ony the ones that have a "+" and not + ( DVD+RW not DVD-RW)
It's the hardware not software.

I remembered seeing it a while ago so I searched for "piracy" and found it in a few seconds.

I actually bought nero 6 this weekend, for use with my new dvd recorder.
Nero came with my dvd burner and my cd burner, but it's a bundled version that only works with them. I don't see the problem with having a bundled version, though :/

A bundled version is fine until you need to encode mpeg2, or until you get another burner from another manufacturer... I got a NEC dvd burner now and previously had bundled lite-on.

I found nero's mpeg encoding was lousy, it ends up blurry and yucky. To encode mpeg2 I use tmpgenc.
And that's true about getting a new burner, but if I get a new one I'll hope that it comes with Nero :)

Ah, I haven't tried its encoding. What I really was after was being able to run both my lite-on and my nec burners at the same time, which I now can.
